Just wondering if any one else has experienced there child not walking at a later age? My son has been seen by doctors but there so wishy washy 2 doctors say he is fine (which we all think he is)and another one wants to do a CT scan to make sure he is fine, my son seems fine and he is walking around furniture finally, he gets around by scooting on his bottom. But I really dont want to put him through a CTscan, I have heard by a few people that there child did'nt walk until almost two so maybe he will start soon!!! He has had alot of sickness in his early stages with ear infections, pnemonia, allergies, and had to get tubes already and he is still getting earaches! Thats another whole issue any thoughts on Chioropractic for ears??

What can I do next?

My stepson did not walk until he was 17-18 months. He also got around by scooting on his bottom. In fact he didn't even pull himself up until he was 16 months. But as soon as he figured out how to do it, he was gone. I wouldn't be too concerned, especially since atleast 2 doctors have said to not worry about it. But I will tell you that the reason that my step son did not walk or even crawl was because of the lack of attention and effort that his mother put in to him. She just sat him on the floor as soon as he could sit up and let him play with all by himself. She did not put him on his tummy or anything. I am not saying that this is the cause to why your son is not walking, just letting you know. I think that all kids develop different and I really don't think of this as abnormal. He will do it when he is ready.

Good Luck!

I don't know what to tell you about the walking. I would be concerned if he is not walking by his second birthday. But about the tubes and the issue of still getting ear infections. My oldest son is on his second set. The first sergon put in tubes that were too small and they got blocked almost immeditaly but wasn't noticed until his 2 year check up. Since the second set he has been doing great, also the suergon gives up drops for his ears everytime we notice any drainage to keep them open. I totally believe in chioropractic care. And it is helpful in children. I would find a chioropracter that works on children and also have his tubes re checked. Stay strong with the ear issue it will get easier.

I can't speak to the late walking but I can speak to chiropractic for ear infections. My ds had nonstop infections from 8 months to 14 months and we were sent to see a specialist who recommended tubes. I couldn't bring myself to have my little guy undergo surgery and I wasn't convinced it was the best solution anyway. So we went to a chiro who works with children and he found a sublaxation in his upper neck area that was constricting his Eust. tubes and also blocking circulation around his lymph glands. My son had 2 adjustments in 2 weeks and goes back for an adjustment every 3 months. He has been ear infection free now for almost 2.5 years. There are also a lot of scientific studies that have shown the benefits of chiropractic for ear infections.

J.,
Is Tyler your son? If you're the mom I think you are, I know your son from daycare and he has made big progress since you had the tubes put in. He hardly seemed to move before, now he is all over, and seems much happier. It almost seems as if his development started when the tubes where put in instead of when he was born, at least as far as moving goes. I know this doesn't really answer your qustion, but he does seem to be making progress, thought that might help to make you feel better! Did the doctor have any real reason to do a cat scan or just kind of to see what's up? If there is no realy reason, I would hold off, persoanlly.

Hello,

I'm not sure about him not walking, but I have also heard that some kids, in particular boys, just don't walk when we think they should. I'd probably hold off on intrusive, scarey tests too, but that is your call and between you and his doctor. The main reason for the reply is the chiropractor- I'd say definitely go- the sooner the better. I have a couple friends who started taking their babies to a chiropractor for a wide range of issues like newborn adjustments, ear infections, and even help with heavy metal detox and autism. They all swear by it and say they have seen remarkable improvements. So, I say don't delay (I sound like Dr. Suess). I don't have any names to recommend, but I do know there is one in Eagan and he is said to be fantastic.

Good luck...R.
