Have you tried taking her out for a walk before breakfast or doing some other exercise with her to get her really tired and hungry before serving her any breakfast?
Okay, so my daughter is 18 months old, and I've run out of ideas to give her for breakfast. She used to like oatmeal, but won't eat that anymore. She used to like waffles, but that's out now too along with toast. She won't eat eggs. I've tried several different ways of cooking them. Hard boiled, scrambled with cheese (that's the closest she's come to eating eggs, but after 2 bites she's done.) She won't eat cereal bars either. She will eat fruit though. She loves bananas and strawberries, and well, any kind of fruit we've found. But I want her to eat a more filling breakfast than just fruit. Any ideas?

i understand your frustration--believe me!! right now my 15 month old is eating cheerios with milk and a side of cottage cheese...she also went through several stages...this breakfast won't last forever, i know, but she eats it and she's getting protein...good luck!
My daughter is the same age and really enjoys yogurt tubes; I put a straw in them and let her suck the yogurt through the straw. Sargento makes colby jack cheese sticks that are easy to hold. Have you tried blending yogurt, milk, ice, and fruit to make smoothies? Small Ritz peanut butter crackers are a good source of protein too. If she doesn't like breakfast food, just feed her lunch foods that she likes.
My son loves bananas also. We cut up a whole banana every morning along with those mini ego pancakes. Other than that this is all he eats every morning for breakfast. I wouldn't push it to much, just give her what she wants to eat. It is just a phase she will eventually start to eat more in the mornings as time goes on.
F.,
How soon after she wakes do you feed her breakfast? My son is 19 mos and will not eat an actual "meal" until about 2-3 hrs after waking up. But upon waking, he drinks a shake I make RIGHT away. I warm whole milk, add some baby oatmeal, sliced banana,PLAIN whole fat yogurt, sliced strawberry and blend it in the blender. Its thick and smooth and I put it in a sippy cup(the kind with the straw).
He LOVES it!! You can also put it in a bottle with a nipple that has been cut at the tip to enlarge the hole.
My son wakes up at 7:30. He drinks his shake, then at 10, I feed him breakfast(brunch). Its either oatmeal, omelette,or waffle. Then he goes down for his nap at 11 and he sleeps until 1. Lunch is at 2. :) Light snack at 4(yogurt,cold cheese stick,or fruit cup). Dinner at 6:30. This routine works very well for us. Hope this helps! :)
Hi F.
My youngest is 9 and still is not qeen on breakfast. All he wanted was tea. Can you believe that, and sometimes will eat waffles. I had to just let him go without breakfast the more you push the more they will push back. He usually eats breakfast about 3 days out of the week, I guess he gets hungry and will remember then eat breakfast the next day. And not always. My husband has a fit when my son dosent eat the way he thinks he should but children will eat when they are hungry, and as you heard already fruit is always very good for them.Try mini pancakes or miniwaffles, for some reason my son is more willing to eat if its mini. Don't ask me why because I hav'nt a clue, all I know thats what he likes.I have heard from other parents that if you put a small side of ketchup they will eat almost anything, I know it sounds yucky for breakfast, but if gets her to eat more, more the merrier. On the weekends my youngest(9yrs) will not eat breakfast right after waking up. I have to wait at least an hour and then I have to tell him he will have breakfast in a half hour, and for some reason that works for him. I am the opposite, I wake up and have to have food in my tummy within the half hour or my stomach gets upset. I don't try to impose the foods I like or timing on my child but I do give him somewhat of a timeline or he'll go without eating most of the day. Hope I was some help, and good luck.
Have you tried pairing fruit along with other things? We have a son who is super picky, but he loves fruit! I would try to pair it with some other things, like cut it up and put it on waffles or pancakes. Or perhaps try it with yogurt to "dip" it in. Or serve dry cheerios with it. I wouldn't be terribly concerned, fruit isn't a bad thing to want! And it may be that it really is filling to her.
My DS LOVES a mini bagel with cream cheese, or yogurt, or biscuit w/cheese, or just milk for breakfast. That's usually how it goes on the weekend. He does get breakfast at preschool and that varies daily. One of his teachers told me when he was in the 12-18 month group is not give him so many choices. So I offer him "this" OR "that". He's now three and will usually respond if he's truly interested in something.
I have two kids like that and have been their whole life. I know people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but so many people aren't hungry right after they wake up. I have never been a breakfast eater, so I have never been real worried about my kids' lack of appetite in the morning. Try waiting til she's been awake for a while. Good Luck!!
My daughter is hooked on Cheerios. She even eats them with milk out of a bowl, although you could give them to your daughter dry too....she loved that for awhile until she saw mommy and daddy with cereal that had milk. She also eats bagels with cream cheese. I agree that you should try to pair the fruit with something else and try to get her to eat both. Yogurt is good too....that, in addition to fruit is a good breakfast. Actually, my daughter LOVES breakfast...it's her favorite meal of the day, so we don't have this problem, but you may just have to keep experimenting.
Good luck!
