She has completed her round of a z pack and is consistently having a fever, coughing her lungs out, ( she is doing her inhaler) and she feels extremely tired and worn out with absolutely no activity. Shouldn't she be feeling some better by now?
She is still sick! Get her to the doctor ASAP! I had this a few years ago and I had to go back to the doctor 3 times and was almost hospitalized! It took me about a month to get back to feeling like a human again.
Tired and lingering cough might be normal. Fever is not. If she finished her z-pack and still has a fever, you need to go back to the doctor ASAP

I took 3 Z-packs....my stupid doctor didn't know what she was doing. I finally went to the ER and was put in the hospital on IV antibiotics for 5 days! When they did my x-ray I had pneumonia in all 4 of my lung quadrants.
If she still isn't feeling better then you need to go back to the doctor.

She needs to go back to the doctor because that fever means the infection might not have cleared up on 1 round of adx. She'll be wiped out for a while. It takes a long time to get all that gunk out of your lungs and you feel weak for up to 8 weeks. Keep her on the inhaler so that everything keeps open and drink as much fluids as possible to keep everything loose so it can be coughed out.
after a round of abx and still having a fever and other problems? time to see the dr again and if they can't help then get a new dr.
Why haven't you taken her back to the Dr? If she's still running a fever she needs to see the Dr before she gets worse.

I've had pneumonia twice , once when I was 12 and then again at 49 (during Hurricane Sandy).and my son did also as a toddler...It does take alot out of you and takes about a month to bounce back after your lungs clear up and the cough does take a while to clear up although she should be sounding a wee bit better every day...If she's still running a temp after she's finished her z-pack, I'd take her back into the doctor; the fever should have broken by now, in my experience.

My son had pneumonia when he was four. He was pretty sick for about a month, had a fever for almost 2 weeks, even with antibiotics and breathing treatments. It is not like a cold or even the flu, it can last a really long time. Keep checking in with her doctor, and hang in there. Sorry you are both going through this.
Pneumonia can be really hard to bounce back from.
It can easily take several weeks.
Keep her well hydrated - chicken soup when ever she wants it.
Keep a humidifier in her room at night - a heating pad on low on her chest might help.
She can also take as many hot steamy showers she needs to help keep her lungs clear.
Let her sleep and rest.

Those Z packs don't always work. She needs another round of antibiotics - something stronger. Good luck!
It can really take a long time to recover completely from pneumonia.... I had it twice (back to back, two different types) in 1992, and it took me several months before I felt completely recovered.
If she is still having a fever, you need to contact the doctor. I finished my antibiotics (10 days worth), and 2 days later ended up with a different type of pneumonia.
You take her back to the doctor if the meds didn't work and she is still sick, with a constant fever. Please go soon - if you haven't already!!!!
I had a miserable cough like that and the z-pack did nothing, they put me on a much stronger antibiotic that is specifically for pnuemonia. But the most relief came from the steroid pills they put me on. I had two different ones over a two week period. Sounds like you need to go back to the doctor and get some stronger stuff for her. Poor thing.
Depending how severe her case was/is. It might take a good week more before she feels like herself. Coughing takes a lot of the body. I am also getting over the crud and still have a cough and it is three weeks later. So make sure she rests and still gets plenty of liquids. She will be fine just monitor her activities and let her doctor know if there is any changes in her condition. Lots of hugs to you both.

I don't know about pneumonia but my son and I have a 'virus' and have been coughing since beginning of November. We have been to the doctor 3 times and have given us antibiotics, steroids, cough meds and inhalers and we still have it. They said it's "really bad" this season. So I guess you just have to wait it out. Lots of us have been suffering this year. Good luck.
It can take weeks to get back to normal strength after pneumonia, but the fever means that the zpack didn't clear up the infection or she has a second one. She needs to get back to the doctor/hospital right away. She probably needs stronger abx, or even an IV abx.
Be sure that you are taking her temperature accurately, and recording it. If its an older thermometer, get a new one, and make sure you're using it correctly (ask the pharmacist). If its a newer model, get fresh batteries. The doctor will want to know how you're taking her temp, how often, and see the numbers. There's a huge difference between 98.9 and 102, for example, and 98.9 may seem like a fever, but it might be normal for your daughter. So a doctor will want to know what her temp is, and when during the day or evening it was taken.
Make sure she's getting fluids, (plain water, not sodas or juices), and contact the doctor to find out what he or she wants you to do.
Trust your instinct. If your daughter is not acting like herself (taking into account that she's recovering from an illness and from taking antibiotics), then be her advocate and request that she be examined by a doctor again.
Z pack does absolutely nothing for me. I can take a round of it then have to go back to the doc to get a real antibiotic.
However. You are describing symptoms that have nothing to do with the antibiotic. A breathing treatment using a nebulizer and specific meds to open the airways and to help stop spasms is what she might need. Are you seeing a lung doc? or her pediatrician?
I'd consider talking to the lung doc next.
She can take meds to moisten her goo so she can get it up and out.
Musinex is the same medication as Robotussin and the same as Walmart brand Tussin.
So if you think paying $12 for a 4 ounce bottle of meds and paying less than a dollar for 8 ounces of the same medication is okay then go for the Musinex. It only tastes different.
She can do hot showers several times per day. There are more things she can be doing. Thumping her back is a big one too, did they give you a device to use? Or show you how to cup your hand and thump her?
