My pediatrictian recommended Aquaphor(sp?) for my son's dry skin. It is an ointment, not a lotion. I picked it up at the pharmacy near our doctor's office. I hope this helps.
of her wrist and one of them is bleeding because she scratched it hard. Does anyone know what could cause extremely dry patches? (They feel as rough as sand papers.) Is there anything we can put on it to help it heal? We have tried Cetaphil but it did not help much.

It could be eczema or she's rubbed it raw.
Take her to the dr. If it is eczema, we used Elidel on our daughter's breakouts and it was FANTASTIC! Cleared it up in a day or so.

It does sound like excema. I use aquaphor mixed with hydrocortisone. It works!
Try Ecerin Authphor, it is really good.
Hi T.,
It sounds like what my son has which is eczema. I've used cetaphil too but it never worked because it was too light. Try Cerave Cream (make sure it's cream in a tub container and not lotion.). They only sell it at walgreens but this is an amazing lotion and this is the only thing that worked on my son and I've used a lot of different lotions because i was so desperate. His eczema was pretty bad before but now it's pretty much completely gone. Thanks to Cerave Cream!! I hope this helps!

Sounds like excema. Both my girls get it. You can first try Eucerin cream and if it is really bad, use hydrortisone cream. It needs to be applied a few times a day to get rid of it. However, it does not cure it. Excema will come and go, sometimes with weather changes. If the above don't help, see your peds so they can prescribe something stronger.
My son, 15 mo, has had the same problem for over a year now. Our doc has told us it is Excema. We apply hydrocortisone ointment, I get it at Target, twice a day. We also lotion his skin with baby Aveeno twice a day to help keep his skin from getting to dry. He seems to go through times when he has it and then it goes away and will come back again. Good luck.
