Can you share the kinds of music your 3rd to 5th grader listens to? DS has friends that listen to rap, including Eminem, and I would love to hear what other parents have done. I usually listen to country and there are a few songs that I'm not fond of them hearing but most are ok. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My kids are not quite that old...but they have very good music taste.....At least I think:)

All LOVE Rise Against, Skrillex, Black Eye Peas and Mumford and sons.

My five year old can sing Rise against from memory..so we listen to that the most.

I listen to just about anything that I feel is good. Whether it be Rap, Country, Blues or folk...I listen to it all.

I would only not allow them to listen to something if it was full of violence, racism, sex or swear words that had no needed volume. Meaning they are just singing about that stuff top make a quick buck with a song....you can tell those who do this....Soldier Boy...Ke$ha.....Those types are what i mean....Quick buck singers.

I never censored what my daughter listened to. She listened to some of the things I listened to, and I listen to everything from opera to Red Hot Chili Peppers, and she liked some things I didn't. It's just music. It can't hurt you.

My son (thank God!) HATES rap. He's a classic rock kind of kid.

I’ve always censored my kids and I listen to a plethora of music from country (my 3 y/o sings the song Mean all the time!) to r&b but I don’t really listen to the radio when they are in the car preferring pre-screened CD’s instead. Now as they get older they will hear inappropriate music from other children but if you allow an open line of communication they will come to you with questions. Just make sure everyone knows your expectations My 18 y/o sometimes listens to her IPOD with the 3 y/o and knows which songs I find offensive so she “screens” songs too.

The 'clean' versions of pretty much what ever they want to listen to. We have one in K and one in 6th.

If you all would watch the documentary's called "They Sold Their Souls for Rock N' Roll", and the "Truth Behind Hip Hop" series by EX Ministries you might change your mind about MOST music....I hope. Also, check out a site called Vigilant Citizen. This may be above a lot of people's heads here...as it was mine at first. But perhaps I can reach at least 1 person.

God Bless

Nothing with bad language or words that would encourage bad behavior.

I restrict music that I feel is disrespectful to women or violent, or heavily sexual. Other than that, I'm pretty open.
