Hi A.,
I have 4 children and each one of them were 10-11 months when I got pregnant with the next one. And the more you have, the more your muscles get stretch out. Since this is your 3rd pregnancy, your muscles aren't as strong, so the "growing" pains seem more. Try to relax and don't do anything too strenuous. I know you have a one year old and it's hard, because you're going have to pick him up, just try to focus your muscle usage on your legs and other places that don't affect your stomach, also, when you get farther along in your pregnancy, a maternity belt is wonderful! Hope this helped! Take care!

I am 27 weeks with pg with our another son. With my pregnancies I felt it right away. Things are moving around in there like crazy, and even at 12 weeks your body is already starting to freak out a little. I would not worry about it too much, talk to your doc and I am sure he/she will tell you the same thing. BUT it is always a good idea to talk to them. BTW you are going to feel similar twinges and pulling for a long time now!! :) Congrats on your new baby to be.

I had the same thing happen to me too. I asked my doctor about it. Unfortunately, she told me it was my muscle stretching and somewhat detaching itself. It doesnt sound pretty...I know. Sorry! It may go away and it may not. Let hope it does. Good luck with your pregnancy!

My best friend is a massage therapist and when I had similar pain she told me that it was ligament pain. I was in a car accident in the year before getting pregnant and it put considerable strain on my ligaments near my pelvis. They run up the side of stomach. She said any healing the ligaments are still doing will be greatly aggrevated during pregnancy. It's possible you are still healing from your first child and the ligaments are simply stretching more this time around.

I had the same pain around the time I was 11 or 12 weeks. It could be a hernia, just tell your doc. Mine wasn't worried about it. I feel more muscles pulled now at 26 weeks. But every woman is different, so best to let the doc know. Good luck! Jen

You know I had that type of pain and also right at the bottom of my belly. I went to twice to the Dr. and asked about the pains and both times they said that they were the muscles making room for the baby. I am small and they said that contributed to it. I was worried since it hurt so much when I laughed or coughed. Hope that helps. Does your OB have a line to call and ask questions as well? It never hurts to give them a shout too. Good luck!

Not sure how you feel about chiropractors but I had major pains from muscles stretching during both pregnancies. With the second they started so early that I decided I was not dealing with this for 9 months. I couldn't walk at times, the pain was so bad. So my midwife gave me the name of a chiropractor who specializes in pregnant women. Turns out my hips were shifted just so that it was putting extra pressure on the muscles and other connective tissue. Getting adjusted not only relieved the pain but allowed more room for the baby as she grew. This was in Fort Myers so unfortunately I don't know anyone here. But make sure they know how to adjust pregnant women and that they will set you up on a schedule to eventually phase out the adjustments. You don't want someone who says to have to come every week for the rest of your life. I also got a couple of adjustments for my hips after delivering to help them stay align as everything went back together.

A., go and see your OB. It might be nothing or it could be something, you need to see a profressional to tell you.

Hi A.,

If it hurts like you know what, it's possibly a hernia. Women have hernias right around the belly button because that is where their skin is stretched. AND yours has been stretched there twice before. Mine was about two inches to the right of the belly button. Some women can have ten kids and it never happens and then someone like me has two....

If that is the case, the only option is surgery to repair it. (I wish there was a natural cure!!!) Talk to your doctor and let him poke around. He will be able to tell you immediately. BTW, Hernia Surgery can almost always be postponed until after your baby is born if cared for properly.

God bless and congratulations!
