Moving to Towson

Hi Moms,

We just bought a house in Towson, I don't know much about the area. I was hoping the experts on this site could help me out with a few questions.

My oldest son is 4, and I have to look for a preschool program. I am looking for something part-time, that has a nurturing and caring environment. This is going to be his third preschool (we have moved a lot), and he is excited about making new friends. I know many of the preschools are probably full, so the more suggestions I can get, the better. It doesn't have to be in Towson; I know there are probably schools in Lutherville Timonium that I can get to easily.

The second question I have is about pediatricians. I have a 17 month old, too, as well as one on the way at the end of August. I really love my practice now, but it is in Wilmington, DE, and I think it's about time I get a local doctor.

Thanks for your help. I'm sure I'll be on again soon aksing more questions!

So What Happened?

Thanks for your input. I have contacted the preschools that were recommended, and am going to contact the peds once we move. I really appreciate all of your feedback; it was extremely helpful!

Welcome to the area. My son goes to Timonium United Methodist preschool. this will be his third year there. They have a 3 morning a week and 5 morning a week program for 4 year olds. You can extend to 3P for an extra fee most days. The price of the program very reasonable. They are very loving and a lot of local moms have said wonderful things. They usually have openings at different points in the summer because a local elementary school opens up its preschool program to its local 4 year olds and several moms jump ship for the free elementary program. I have also heard great things about Havenwood in Lutherville.

We go see Amy Winkelstein at Maryland Pediatric Group and she is wonderful. The only draw back is that is very difficult to get an appt with her when your child is sick but there are lots of great docs in that practice that we have seen for sick visits.

Good luck to you on your move!

We love our pediatrician at Pavillion Pediatriacs, Dr. Gable. I don't have any preschool recommendations as I haven't hit that yet. Welcome and best of luck!

I recommend Dr. Johnathan Surell of Main Street Pediatric group. I don't know the phone # anymore, but you could google it. They are located in Towson on Fairmount Ave.

Hi, T..

We live in Timonium. My daugther goes to Havenwood Preschool and we love it. It was a great first school for her and she'll be there next year. My son will go after that. (And my neice went there too and love it.) It would be a great place to try. I've also heard good things about Timonium United Methodist, but have no personal experience with it.

As far as pediatricians, I really love ours. Dr. Jon Simon on Scott Adam Rd. in Cockeysville. His number is ###-###-####. His website is: http://www.jonsimonmd.com/

Hope this is helpful. Send me a personal e-mail if you have any questions. Welcome to the neighborhood! :)
