We are moving to San Antonio from Ft Lauderdale on April 13. We are really excited about the move. We bought a house in Eden Roc and never saw it in person. We've never even been to SA before. Everything will be brand new to us.
We know nothing about the city or neighborhood, so any information you would like to send my way, regarding anything useful, would be greatly appreciated. i.e. things to do, things to stay away from, bad areas, good areas, etc. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey there J.,
My name is Julie and my husband and I just moved here about a year ago from California. We have 2 boys also ages 1 & 2. I really like San Antonio. We live on the north east side which is supposed to be the preety good side. I am still learning about San Antonio, there is so many wonderful things about it. It is nothing like living near the beach which is about 3 hrs. from here, but there are many great water parks. Sea world has a wonderful one for infants/toddlers as well as for your 7 yr. old. It does get hot here, but I actually enjoy it, the people here are great, I have not had many negative experiences here. Good luck on the move. Your are more than welcome to email me anytime, I am a stay at home mom, my husband flies for American Airlines, we have great times with our neighbors here and we are always looking to meet great people whom also have children. My boys are my whole life, they are great fun, I usually take them to the childrens museum here, the library and we go to lots of sporting games. We especially my husband are sports fans, he Dallas cowboys and spurs and myslef san diego chargers.
Well like I said email me anytime,
Your new San Antonio friend Julie

I know there is a neighborhood called Eden near the school where I used to work. That's a pretty nice area, near Thousand Oaks and Wetmore road.
You might want to get zoo passes for something to do. They only cost about $50 or $60 for the whole family for a year. They have a new toddler area that's nice. You could also get passes for Fiesta Texas. Your kids are under 3 so you'd only need to get for yourself and your husband. They have a lot of rides your 2 year old could go on and they have a water park. I like to get passes because you only have to pay once and then it's something free to do for several months. It ends up being cheaper than going to play places or Gymboree or something where you have to pay everytime.
I sound cheap, don't I? HA Really I'm just broke since my twins were born and I'm only working part time so I'm always on the lookout for inexpensive activities.
Good Luck with your move.

Brackenridge Park is nice. There are ducks, a playground, picnic tables, and a train that goes around the park. It is right behind the Witte Museum (3801 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209).

Welcome to SA- it is a wonderful city. Check out the Witte Museum on Broadway for neat exhibits- they have a WONDERFUL childrens exhibit called Treehouse. The zoo is also fun, as is Brackenridge Park. Riverwalk is fun, but always crowded with tourists. Go to Gruene sometime (s small town 40 minutes away on I-35) and eat at the Grist Mill (My ABSOLUTE favorite restaurant) Most of the Mexican food is Amazing (Try Alamo Cafe on HWY 281 or El JArro also on HWY 281) I can tell you a million other restaurants if you want (I like to eat out!) The weather is mild in the winter and HOT in the summer- watch out for mosquitos. Eden Roc is in a great area- that whole area is exploding with growth. The school system out there is wonderful- nothing bad about it (except the taxes!) Please let me know if I can do anything to help you- I am from SA (born and raised), currently in lubbock and moving back to SA on June 1. We're building there.
