That's hard. I know a couple of nice ones but don't know what school zone it is. When are you moving? I can look into it and pm you if you like. I am very familiar with the area and can also tell you which ones to avoid.
I will be moving to hyattsville Maryland. Do anyone know of nice apartments in a good area under 1300 for a one bedroom near a good elementary school?

I agree with Persimmon's assessment below. Be sure to check out Greatschools.org for info on schools. You may want to consider looking in close by (10min or so) Montgomery county. The schools are always ranked amongst the best in the Nation. The downside is that housing is more expensive.
good luck!
Oh, that's a bit of a toughie. I LIKE Hyattsville (same for Riverdale and College Park). I see very attractive and affordable houses there all the time. Recently, a number of luxury apartments and condos have been built. It's near lots of great parks and local historical sites. We enjoy shopping in Hyattsville now that many locally-owed businesses have been squeezed out of downtown Silver Spring. However, the schools simply don't have my confidence.
I believe that you can check out each school via http://schools.pgcps.org/ Measure them against whatever criteria you consider a good elementary school. You may find a school or two that is a great fit. That said, there are several good private schools in the area and some people in PG pay tuition to attend either MCPS or a DCPS charter.
Thank you ladies. I have been looking towards montgomery county but then I am undecided with being closer to the arts district in hyattsville.
