My husband started a new job in Edmond and after 5 long months, we are almost ready to move the family there...YEAH!!! We are going to live in Edmond (most likely) and I will have tons of questions. But lets start with the first, regarding our relocation. Any suggestions on areas....are certain areas better than others? We have a young family of 3 boys, ages 4, 2, and 5 months. Elementary school will be important and a family friendly neighborhood is a top priority. I really appreciate everyones opinions. Thanks

What can I do next?

Congrats! It sounds like you're excited - and you should be. Edmond is a great place to live. Like the other poster, you might want to provide a little more info like whether you prefer a new home or you're attracted to the character of older homes, if a large yard is important to you - if you want to live in a neighborhood with community features (playground/swimming pool), and maybe a price range. We live in an older neighborhood with large lots (no community swimming pool or playground) and no neighborhood assoc. There are residents who have lived here for 30 years and they are great, but almost everyone that moves in are young families with children who enjoy the process of updating and improving their homes. We have two young boys and our street has a slew of kids that play together all the time. It's wonderful. We go to Centennial Elem which is one of the newest in Edmond and has great ratings. Good luck with all the info your receive and best wishes on your move.

I live in West Edmond (moved to Edmond 4 yrs ago from Alaska) and I like being close to a lot of amenities when family comes to town. Not too many super bad areas in Edmond. I live in a neighborhood built in the 80's. There are lots of neighborhoods to choose from depending on what you are looking for. All the schools get great reviews here in Edmond. You should get a relocation packet from the City of Edmond. That is what we did. I have loved everything Edmond has to offer. The Metro Family Magazine which can be found at Crest Grocery, the public library, and some drs. offices has lots of events listed(at the back) that are family friendly and some fun article to read. You can also find them online.

It really depends on the price range you are looking for in my opinion. Edmond is nice and there are a lot of nice ritzy areas and a lot of nice not so ritzy areas. I grew up in North Edmond but sister grew up in the southern part and went to Memorial... I am buying a house in Cashion right now because we really like the smaller town feel, but our realtor is REALLY knowledgeable about Edmond and I would be happy to give you his number(and I am sure he would be happy too). Also there are websites out there that will tell you how much poverty, how ethicly deverse and how good at teaching a school is within a town, maybe that is the information you need to get first then start looking in that area from there. (Deer Creek is also REALLY GOOD schools)

We moved to Edmond about 8 years ago and love it! We live East of I35 in a great neighborhood, but there are tons of options in Edmond. I would suggest staying East of Broadway extention, mostly because the traffic is so bad on the West side. We also have a 4 yr old son. He starts school at St Elizabeth Ann Seaton this fall. We go to St John the Baptist Catholic Church and love it so we decided to send our son to their school. I've heard great things about Centennial Elementary, since that is where most of our neighbors kids go & I know a couple of the teachers there. They all love it. Good luck in your house hunt!
