Move him to one nap a day when he's ready. I can't think of a reason to force him to one nap if he needs two. In the meantime, enjoy the extra time it provides for you.
OUr 18 month old currently still takes 2 (2 hour) naps a day and sleeps from 7pm -- 6am daily. The two days a week he is at daycare he only takes one nap.
Our questions is, should we force our son to go to one nap? Or should we just wait it out. And if we do try and get him to move to one nap what are suggestions for this? Our son gets CRANKY when he gets tired.
Thanks!

I personally don't have any advice for you as I'm in a similar boat with my 17 month old. But I just posted a similar question (early rising and should I cut a nap) and received a TON of great advice about how to cut the AM nap. My post is called "17 month early riser" (or something similar). I posted it yesterday. Good luck!
I personally would just listen to your son. when he is cranky let him sleep. My two year old only has one nap now but that is mostly because our schedule is a little hectic. Im sure with in the next few months he will be fine with just one nap.
It can be tough on them to go from two naps to one nap a day. If he is still fine with taking 2 naps and sleeps fine at night, I would still let him do that as long as he is sleeping fine. When he isn't sleeping well for his naps or at night, I would start to transition to one nap. What we did for my daughter was switch every other day - one day she would take two naps and then the next day she would take one. It takes a while and she was pretty grumpy, because she wasn't quite ready for just one nap, but she wasn't taking 2 good naps either. It took about a month for her to transition fully, and now she takes a nap from 1:30 to about 3:30 every afternoon. Good luck!
