Hi K., I thought my idea was pretty good, going to let's do dinner (one of those places where you prepare really nice meals there then just warm it up when you want to eat it) and making a really nice dinner for her that I can just heat up on sunday!

Have you made a scrapbook for your Mom? One of the best gifts I have ever received from my girls is hearing them say something to their kids that I said to them. What a nice pocket scrapbook this would make. Have fun.

Anything hand-made by the kids is a great gift from them, but from you, maybe tell her that you want to spend a day of her choosing to get a chance to just spend some time alone and reconnect (even if you talk to her everyday). Go out to lunch, get a pedicure, or just spend the day at home alone with her on the couch just talking about memories from growing up and special events in your life.

Hi K.,
My Mom is out of State so I sent her a gift certificate to her favorite store. :-)
For my Stepmom, I created a Poem for her that says everything I feel, and since she's coming to see us, (she's out of state as well), I am getting her a cake for Mother's Day, and also I bought her a figurine of a Mother and Child together. :-)
There's some ideas for you. :-) Best wishes and Happy Mother's Day to you! G.

I saw some bags at Michael's for $5 that you can slide pictures into. I am going to make a bag for my mother in law that has the kids handprints and pictures slid into the picture slots. I enjoy scrapbooking, so I was going to dress up the pictures with embellishments, etc. We also like to make homemade 'love' coupons from the kids. Easy to do and the kids enjoy giving them to grandma. In general, I think anything homemade would make any mom happy. I also like to take my kids to the dollar store and let them pick out their own presents for family members. For Christmas my son picked out a ceramic bird for my MIL's bird collection and a brush for my mom's purse.

In the past i have gotten little things that I know she likes and made them into a basket. For example a little candle of a scent she likes, a little plant, her favorite cookies, and some lotion from bath and body, and a little something from each of the kids last year they picked out a wind chime from michales of course it was a betterfly one and it was like 6.00 and my daughter picked out a lip gloss from bath and body. She loved it cause it was home made. Im with you on being busy all the time with the kids i have dance with my 2.5 year old and sports with my son sometimes ithink im more out of the house then in the house but im usually always with the kids. That is why i liked picking up the little things and made it fun for all of us. Im trying to more. Im trying to demstrate candles for gold canyon candles so i can be at home also.

I don't know how much help this will be to you, but here goes.

For my mother-in-law, we are taking her to brunch on Mother's Day. She likes to do that, and it's not major expensive - it's about $33/head. Less for the kids.

My mother lives about 2 hours from Vegas, so we are sending her to Vegas to see the exhibition of artifacts that were brought up from the Titanic. That was $22/head and then I got her the audio thing which was another $6. Got her 2 tickets and audio thingies. So - that was $60 (there was a fee).

That's what we're doing.

I know mothers day is over but you might use this for other holidays. My Mom is 70. she has all the "stuff" she needs. she loves gardening and plants but because she is pretty weak from jsut finishing radiation treatments for breast cancer she doesnt go out much or for long periods of time. i know she misses her plants. I took her to the home garden center at loews "just to look at the pretty flowers." it was like having a kid at the zoo!. I REMEMBERED THE ONES SHE REALLY LIKED AND TODAY, THE DAY AFTER MOTHERS DAY I GOT UP EARLY AND WENT AND BOUGHT ALL THE ONES SHE LIKED. IT WASNT EXPENSIVE CAUSE I ONLY BOUGHT ONE OF EACH but it made a beautiful pot. I also bought a half barrel and planted all of the flowers in teh barrel and put it on a stand high enough for her to be able to see it fron the window. i also got her a watering can so she can go out and water her mini garden. in another half barrel, i planted strawberry plants. she lsot her little dog in december when she was in the hospital for several days. she has been heartbroken and although she told us she doesnt want another dog, we also got her a fish. we got 2 samurai fighting fish and two huge glass vases. put in glass pebbles in the opposing color of the fish. we got a red one a blue one. we put the fish in the vases and washed out the roots of a peace lilly plant for each of the vases. you have to wash all the dirt out really well. then put the plant into the vase. now she has indoor pets that dont require a lot of energy and she also has a beautiful flowering plant in the house.

Scrapbooks are an awesome Mothers Day gift or birthday gift! I actually made a scrapbook that I am selling, the pages are decorated in the theme of "moms". I also make hand-made cards for my mom and grandma!

I am a Mary Kay beauty consultant, and we offer complimentary facials and makovers. You could make an appointment for you and your mom at the same time, have some quality time, and get a new look. If you wanted to get her something more, we have a Satin Hands Pampering set that is AWESOME for dry skin, and gives you a mini massage when you use it. Check it out on my website www.marykay.com/christyday

I purchased a multiple picture frame at Walmart ($12) and some scrapbooking stickers and filled the frame with memorable pictures of my family. It looks like it took a lot of time and I know that my mom/mother-inlaw will love it!

P.S. Stickers were from walmart also ($.97 each sheet).

Good luck!
