Mother's Helper Pay?

I'm thinking about hiring a 12 year old to play with my 2 year old and 6 month old while I get some stuff around the house done.

How much would I need to pay her? She is terrific with babies, as she has a 5 month old sister, so she is experienced.

What can I do next?

I think if you are going to be home, you should not pay as much as you would for a regular sitter. I would say $3 or $4 per hour sounds reasonable. If she wants a little more- make her work a little more for it! :)

I run a babysitting business with 30 families. Mother's helper is 10-12 an hour. I would say pay her 5 an hour. Minimum wage is $7.65 and they get that at 15/16 so I would pay her $5. Not worth it to be honest if less than that.

I would think that 3/4 dollars and hr would be sufficient!!! If she doesn't agree with this price, then I agree with Elizabeth, make her work for it!! ( :

For sitting when I am not home I give 5 for 2 kids, so with me home I would say 2 or 3 at most.

Why not make it a weekly pay instead of hourly.... for example, if she is working 20 hours a week, pay her 40-50 a week. That way it is not broken down into an hourly wage, and if you need her a little more or less, you don't have to calculate hours.
My daughter babysit for $5 per hour, but I do not let her pay exceed $30 a day. She usually only sits for my friends, and I tell them not to overpay her, she is only 14 and does not need that much money. She makes $60 a week, and she has to put half in her bank account. $30 a week for a 14 year old is plenty of spending money, especially since I buy her everything she needs. So far she has saved over $1500 just from babysitting and cleaning my mother's house.

I asked this question a couple weeks ago. Same situation, I'd be at home and the girl is 12. I only have a 2 1/2 yr old. I was thinking for an hour or two at a time, a couple days a week. All my responses were saying $5 per hour, almost unanimously.
