Hello, I am interested in sending my 2.5 year old twins to the spanish schoolhouse next year. The concept for the mother's day out program is great and I am very interested. My only hesitation, is the facility. We would be at the north dallas location. The facility is clean and the staff very nice, but there are no windows and the rooms seem very dark...kind of depressing. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

Tamara....SORRY, but why send your kids to a school where there are no windows and it is dark??? Is the " spanish" few words that they will learn more important to you than your kids ?? I think that are really good schools in the north Dallas and I am sure your girls will learn this language in the future...Hey, this is TEXAS and they will get it, just don't worry too much!

I have enrolled my 2 year old at the North Dallas location of Spanish Schoolhouse for the fall. Yes, the building and playground could be better. For me, the location and the Spanish immersion make the trade off worth it. This is my 3rd child. My first went 4 years to Northaven Co-op. We both loved it for many reasons. My second did a year of MDO at Arapaho Methodist (cheaper, also close to home, great playground, but tiny rooms and the building is old). Then he went to the Co-op for a year, but 2 kids at the Co-op ran me ragged, so the next year he switched to Westwood Montessori. There are a lot of factors to consider in choosing preschool. The right answer right now may not be the right answer in 2 years or for another child in your family. Trust your instincts, and watch your children. Were they happy when they visited? That's your best indicator of what kind of experience you'll have. Don't discount the importance of minimizing stress on yourself. If Mama is falling to pieces, the whole family suffers!

Good luck with your decision. Maybe I'll see you at orientation in the Fall.

Hi Tamara, I'm not familiar with the spanish schoolhouse, but I do know that children need stimulation especially at a young age. Just take into account that environment can have a big impact on children - really anyone! Good luck.

Hi Tamara,
I visited the school a year ago when looking for a new place for my then 3 year old. I thought the same thing, no windows and just overall a little gloomy. I liked the director but it wasn't enough for me. I also noticed that in order to get to the playground, they had to cross a parking lot in the back of the building and there was no shade--both major drawbacks. If the facility were different, I'd have put my son in there but having to be inside for a long period of time with no access to the outside seemed depressing. AND what happens when it rains?? They'd be indoors the whole time.

Just my opinion...
