Yep, totally normal. I have a 3 week old (this is my 5th baby! OMG! LOL) and she's constantly making grunty animal sounds, it's really funny! We sit here and imitate her for amusement... LOL

not saying this is always true but it could be acid reflux bring it up with your DR. they just told a friend of mine her son has it and is now on baby zantac- tehy say the grunting is getting the baby to get the acid from coming up
hope that was helpful

Perfectly, absolutely 100% normal. Babies are noisy ;-)

That is totally normal- as long as they aren't like "I'm in pain", in which case you should check with your doc to be sure she's ok. She's playing with sounds, and learning to make them, and change the pitch. When my dd does it (and she has since early on), I call it her singing, and imitate her and we have "singing conversations" quite often. Something else to try just for fun, because of her age- try sticking out your tongue at her. There's a small window in newborns where they can imitate your facial expressions, and then the ability fades away for a long while. Enjoy!!

It sounds like your daughter is starting to exercise her vocal chords! Enjoy it! This is just one of the many sounds you will hear. Now when someone asks me "What is your favorite sound?" Inevitably, it is one of my daughter's sounds. At 4 months, she started growling. We don't have a dog, and I can;t figure out where she may have heard it, but it became her favorite sound. For my husband and I, that sound was sure to bring smiles to our faces!

Hi L., yeah, thats pretty normal. Babies don't have the coughing and clearing reflex an adult has, so they make lots of strange noises. My 8 mo daughter hummedlike too, and still does it! Congrats on baby! D.

Hi,
my son is 11 months old now but we first brought him home we quickly nicknamed him gremlin. He constantly made grunting and growling noises. you have nothing to worry about.

My daughter is 6 months old, and she made those exact noises when she was a newborn. My two sons didn't, but every baby is different.
