Mosquito Repellent for Child with Sensitive Skin/eczema/dermatitis

Skin So Soft is nice but I also use the Avon bug spray/sunscreen. My son has somewhat sensitive skin and it hasn't seemed to be a problem on him. If you're going to order the SSS, you might as well try some of that too!

i dont know if this will work for ur child but my son is highly allergic to bug bites...especially gnats, and has sensitive skin. i use Skin so Soft by avon as a bug repellent for him.

the plain Skin So Soft...not the scented versions. the regular plain Skin so Soft.

We have used skin so soft by Avon for years. I keep a stock of it in the bathroom.

We also use Avon's Skin So Soft! Works and doesn't irritate my son's skin (he has eczema too).

Skin so soft is wonderful!!!!!!!

When our daughter was in day care.. they used to mix vanilla with water and place it in a pray bottle. worked great.

Be sue to concentrate it on his ankles, behind his knees, wrist , and behind his neck..

Is your son 3 years or older? If he is, you may want to check out this product. We brought it to Costa Rica with us and it worked like a charm. It's plant-based, so no DEET. We don't have skin conditions such as your son, but it may be worth a try:

My son has very sensitive skin. The Cutter Naturals worked well for him at repelling mosquitoes at our recent weekend at the river. He didn't break out at all and it had a nice, pleasant smell. Chiggers, not so much...lol
You can get those Off diffusers that they attach to their wastebands. It doesn't put the chemicals directly on the skin, so that might be ideal. I haven't tried it though.

You should aslo talk to the preschool about having the property treated. You're living in an area where West Nile is a problem.

I use a bug repellant from California baby. Check the label to be sure that your son is not allergic to any of the ingredients. It needs to be reapplied once in a while but it is all natural and works great (it also smells good and is not greasy).
I found it at Target in the baby section.

I don't have any suggestions for the repellant. But I would suggest the school put up some bug wackers.

I lived in the city but bear a park where there were numerous ponds. The mosquitos were horrendous. In AZ and most of NV you can't enjoy the climate in the summer because the heat drives you back inside. We lived in Arkansas and the mosquitos drove us inside at dusk.

I bought a 1/4 acre bug wacker. It did nothing by itself. I went to the butcher and bought some fresh beef liver and asked for extra blood. (Yes, the butcher will give you funny looks.) I took the styrofom tray and attached it to the bottom of my bug wacker with rubber bands. The bug wacker was about 50' away from the house and on the far side of my pool.

The first night I got so many mosquitos they completely filled the grid. Can you imagine how many mosquitos it takes to fill a grid? I cleaned the grid and it was filled each night for the next two weeks. It was almost filled for an additional week and then it tapered off. I left the beef liver in for about a month. When it had been up there for about two weeks, I noticed I was catching flies in the grid. After about a month, I no longer had a mosquito OR a fly problem. I could have an out door BBQ and not be pestered by the flies or mosquitos. I could swim in my pool after sunset and NO MOSQUITOS.

I don't know if the school will do this for you, but it will work. If you have endangered spicies of birds or other animals or fish that depend on the mosquito for food, don't do this. It works too well.
