Hi Lisa believe it or not I was told that if you put Listerine in a spray bottle and spray the grassy areas or bushes, the mosquuitos disappear. Hey its worth the try. Let me know if it really works.
it is finally summer and time for the kiddos to go outside.. there is a shady area that we like the kids to play in to keep them from the hot sun.. but the mosquitos also love the shade.. does anyone have a good way to get rid of the mosquitos in our back yard???> I hate to put bug spray on the kids every time they go outside.

You can use a mixture of Listerine and water to put on the kids. Use the original not like the orange or mint, but I have found it very useful. I use it on the kids and the dogs. My dogs clean themselves like cats so I have to be very careful about what to use on them. I also use to use apple cider vinegar when I was around the barn and in the woods with the horses. I couldn't use stuff like deep woods off or anything with DEET it ate my riding clothes.
The Listerine or the apple cider vinegar work wonderfully but you do have to reapply it more frequently. For me it is more peace of mind that its not harmful to the kids or animals.
Good Luck

I've never tried Listerine or apple cider, but will certainly have too.

Good luck! I hate mosquitoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Lisa,
Great question.
I responded earlier and am now editing my response. I found the forward sent to me with the info. I could not find before. I can now be more specific. Sorry ladies.
I had suggested the Listerine mouth wash. I THOUGHT it was diluted. Is is not. Just put the Listerine in a spray bottle and mist the area. It says it last days. Also, says, "DO NOT GET ON WOOD." This was including decks. The forward says the Lg. bottle is only 1.89 at Target. That's cheap, safe, protection, I think. The photo showed all flavors, so I guess it doesn't matter which one you use. But, we all know which one smells the worst. :) At least in my opinion, the original flavor was kind of nasty.
Let us all know if you do it, and how it worked out.
Good Luck and keep those babies safe,
C.
We used to have a drainage sewer in our backyard that was a breeding ground for mosquitos. We would place dry ice over the opening and that would reduce the amount we would see for a while.
