I have a crazy answer but it REALLY works. I discovered this when I lived in the Midwest. Desperation is sometimes the mother of invention: toothpaste on the bites, not gel, just good old fashioned toothpaste.

My almost 2 year old has about 5 bites on her hand and a couple on her back. I also have several as well. We have put Benadryl cream on them and no change, so I gave her the liquid Benadryl before bed last night, and they have not changed at all. I had thought they would go down at least a little bit. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I feel bad for her.

I am really allergic to mosquito bites - the itching drives me nuts! The only thing that I've found effective is a cold compress. I use ice wrapped in a towel. Hope that helps!
are you sure they are mosquito bites?
I have put a baking soda mixture on bites and stings before...try that - mix water with some baking soda - like a paste - thick and put it on......
Calendula tincture on the bites. Apply several times in a single hour. Reapply as needed. Stops the itch.
Don't eat sugar as that appeals to mosquitos.
my daughter and i are extremely allergic. we do benedryl along with an ice pack to soothe the itching. it takes nearly a week for them to go away :-( good luck
Aloe Vera, like you would put on a sunburn, works wonders! Plus you can use it as often as needed.
My dd is very allergic to bug bites of any kind. We use Sarna, a lotion and can be found at most drug stores like Walgreens or Rite Aid. Tea Tree oil also works and can be found at Freddies in the health food section or at any health food store. You do need to apply these frequently, they are only topical and only help with symptom relief not elimination.
I would love to find something that helps us not be bit. Flea season was awful, now mosquito season is looking just as bad.
Good luck and if you find a nice, safe bug repellent, let me in on the secret.
They may need a few days for the swelling to leave, but I've found two wonderful homeopathic creams/gels that work on almost any kind of itch/burning/irritation I get on my very sensitive skin. Both are made by Boericke and Tafel, and are available in many whole-foods type stores and even in some larger pharmacies. There is Sssting Stop, made especially for insect bites and stings, and Florasone, which also works on insect problems as well as almost any other kind of rash, including eczema.
Because they are homeopathic (although more herbal and concentrated than most other homeopathic remedies), there is a possibility that up to 20% of the population will not respond to them. But my husband, who is not a good h. responder, still gets noticable relief from these two products.
Another VERY good product they make is an Arnica cream, great for bruises, sprains, and sports injuries. Good to have in the medicine cabinet.
