Morning Sickness - Richmond,TX

I am very fortunate I am not as sick this pregnancy as I was my first two, (violently ill the entire 9 months). But I still throw up about 5-6 times a day and feel nausea all day long, and have 2 kids to care for, it is still difficult. I do wear seabands and have ginger gum which help a *little* bit.

What is hard on me, is absolutely nothing healthy I can keep down. Not even a beloved glass of milk, or anything with milk in it, like cereal, yogurt, (I can do cheese though). I'm not a big soda drinker, but my husband bought me Dr. Pepper b/c a few small sips help settle my stomach. I can eat a pizza or a taco bell tostada, but nothing actually good for me, like salad, hard boiled eggs, fruit, veggies, hummus...

And drinking... I love to drink large sips of water/milk/apple juice. But any large sip makes me throw up immediately, so all I can do are these teeny little sips. I feel so thirsty all the time. What can I do to help with my thirst?

I do plan on getting on Zofran ,it's the only thing that has helped in the past, but my Dr. appt isn't for another week (I'm only 8 weeks). I do all the natural remedies and the protein/carb small snacks during the day and when I first wake up, yeah those don't really help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Interesting, I will be trying the grapefruit juice then! and yeah, ginger ale/snaps make me very sick :( I am surviving right now on a can of corn a day, about the only thing I don't heave in full... so not fun.

Bless your heart! I was sick the entire 9 months with my son....even with prescription meds, so I feel your pain. Being sick is miserable. The foods that triggered my vomitting seem to be the same ones that you're having trouble with. I too wanted to be healthy, but couldn't drink a glass of water or handle dairy at all. For some reason, tomato juice tasted really good to me. I ended up drinking A LOT of tomato juice and V8. I also drank a great deal of ruby red grapefruit juice. I have no idea why those were easier to handle than other juices, but it was some type of fluid that I could keep down. Maybe you can give that a try. Hope you feel better soon!

Have you tried ginger ale to drink? It sustained me through 12 weeks of morning sickness. Also lemon lime gatorade - it didn't make me gag either.Eat whatever you can - don't worry too much about the "health" factor right now until the nausea passes. The dairy might just be adding to the nausea so avoid it for now. I lived on saltines and ginger snaps too. Good luck and hope it subsides soon. :)

if your Dr. is your same Dr. and familiar with your extreme nausea you can probably call in for a prescription before your fist visit. I survived on toast and watermelon for days on end and couldn't keep down a multivitamin, but both my kids came out healthy. How funny, taco bell tostadas were also one of the only foods I could take at times.

Gatorade was about the only thing during my 3rd that I could drink without getting nauseated. I wasn't like that with my first 2. Doc said it was okay, since I needed all the electrolytes.

Pizza can be good for you. Make it healthy with whole wheat crust, good veggies, organic cheese (I only use organic dairy).

I actually used to drink a glass of red grapefruit juice every morning. I don't know why or how, but it was GREAT! I too ended up on zofran, b/c I had the 24/7, 40 weeks long "morning" sickness... I also ate a LOT of junk b/c the strong salty taste in a lot of it seemed to help with that metallic taste I had in my mouth all the time. Fritos, choc covered peanuts, chips, etc. Favorite thing was a banana icee though. LOL My kids came out find and both are plenty healthy. Eat what you CAN and figure the rest out as you go along. You don't have to eat perfectly, nor 'right' for the entire pregnancy.
best of luck.
