You've had many suggestions so I'll keep it short. I found jolly ranchers really helped me. I just kept them with me and popped them all day long.
Hope you find something that helps. Nothing worse then being sick.
I drank a lot of ice water. Also, get some ginger... candied ginger, ginger tea, ginger snaps, ginger ale. Ginger is shown to reduce nausea in any situation.
Seabands worked okay sometimes.
And lots of carbs.
It was worse for me if I was hungry. I tried to nibble all day, which seemed to help. Nonetheless, there was a 6-7 week stretch when I survived almost exclusively on Special-K. That went down really well.
it could be your prenatal vitamins causing some nausea, so you can ask your dr to suggest something different. also, the motion sickness wristbands (sold at walgreens, etc)help some.
My morning sickness, was ALL DAY too. DEFINITELY TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. I found when I went through it, that it was a matter of eating regularly, I saw someone mention being YOUNG & on the MOVE....that was big for me, because I had no set schedule of eating, HAD to change that. The key was making sure I ate immediately, that curbed it. But if I went TOO long w/o eating, I was sick, and could not recover from it. YIES!!!!SOmething my DOCTOR had me try was slimfast, I had used it before for meal replacement w/o being pregnant, and liked the taste. The goal was for me to keep calorie intake UP, and that helped. I could drink fluids, just could NOT stomache eating. And could NOT stand the smell of MOST food. Ensure, would probably give the same results. BUT PLEASE TALK to you DOCTOR.
I feel your pain. I was sick throughout the entirety of both pregnancies. zoforan works but it gave me migraines so I couldn't take it. If the other remedies dont work...dont fret. The all day sickness doesnt last the whole time, and even if you are nauseaus for nine months it goes away the minute the baby comes out. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
Hi -
I was also very sick during my pregnancy and could not keep down any food at all. Please go see your doctor if you are this sick. He/she will be able to help you, whether it's with medication that is safe during pregnancy or other treatments.
Good luck!

Your nutrition could be low, could ask your doc about metagenics prenatal (what I still take since I breastfeed) or go to Wholefoods and ask them for a prenatal suggestion then talk to your doc/midwife about it.
Another thing, keep saltines by your bed and eat one with some room temp water before you start to usually feel ill.
seabands
lemon drops
water with lemon
Hi D.,
I feel your pain and what you are going thru. I have three kids and I suffered from morning sickness all day long with all three kids.
Thanks to all of my friends here at Mamasource with my third child I was able to control it. They recommended SEA BANDS and vitamin B6 it works really good I wore my sea bands all day even when I went to bed and I was able to eat and keep the food in. The only thing is that I had allot of heart burn, but I would drink MILK and it would go away immediately. Try the bands you can find them at Walgreens good luck and hang in there I wish you the best of luck.
Hi D.,
Holy cow, can I relate! I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and the morning sickness has been brutal with this one. Bear with me for a second - are you a sushi eater? If so, then you are familiar with pickled ginger. Go pick yourself up a jar from the local grocery store. I am telling you, it works almost instantly. The relief doesn't necessarily last that long, but you at least get a breather for a half an hour or so. And if you're a sushi eater like me, then you probably love the taste already! If you've never had it, it can be a bit strong - but when you feel that sick, you'll do just about anything, right?
I also keep a box of ginger snaps by my bed and eat one or two before I get up in the morning. (Do you see the ginger theme here? Ginger is supposed to be great for easing nausea.) This seems to help a little too. My doctor also said that we feel more sick in the a.m. because we are dehydrated, so I keep a glass of water by my bed too and try to drink that before getting up.
Hopefully these tips will help you as they've helped me! Hang in there - the 2nd trimester will be much much better. : )
there is zofran prescription that does wonders
vit b6
cinamon
ginger
keep full with small small meals very frequently
find a food that works this pregnancy peanut butter was my friend
last pregnancy it was a single mcdonald cheeseburger with no onions
good luck

I cut out carbohydrates and it made me stop being sick but I still felt it... I was sick all the way through my pregnancy.
I feel your pain. You need to go to your doctor and ask about Zofran. It's a prescription that is safe in pregnancy and they give it to women with severe morning sickness. I lost five lbs my first two weeks of being pregnant. The zofran takes the edge off so you can eat and function. The downside is that it is a price medicine, so I hope you have prescription coverage. Good luck!
you poor thing.....crackers and tums did the trick for me. And, to drink A LOT of water.....
Just keep reminding yourself why you are doing this and then....one day...poof! No more morning sickness...
Hi D.,
Have you considered seeing a nutritionist? I had the same problem and was absolutely miserable, couldn't even keep water down. I was counting hours go by, waiting for the mark into the second trimester because everyone told me it was just the way it was. My mom thought differently and helped me to see a nutritionist. I never got sick to my stomach again during the pregnancy, and three days later I got all my energy back. I just felt better and better as time went on, and gave birth to an incredibly healthy baby boy.
I'm new to the Chicago area (from Clearwater, Florida), but I think you can look up "Ulan Nutritional Systems" on the internet and find a nutritionist in this area (that's what I plan to do, as I hope to get pregnant with our second child in a few months and want to stay on nutrition again).
Good luck!!!!
Hi D.,
I had this with my now four-yr-old daughter. I started with over-the-counter Emetrol and wrist-bands(the kind for motion sickness you wear on a cruise). About mid-way through, even the Emetrol made me sick, so I had to get the perscription Zofran. A couple of my girlfriends have taken through their pregnancies as well. However, if you wind up taking this or any other anti-nausea prescription medication, I would recommend taking an OTC stool softener with it so you wind up in the hospital with the opposite problem.
Good luck.
I feel your pain! I was sick too at the beginning of my pregnancy. Ask your OB for a Prenatal Vitamin called Premisis. It has extra B6, B12 and Folic Acid in it and is specially designed to help with morning sickness. I took it and it definitely helped. Good luck!!!
HI D..
I'm also pregnant with my first and have been pretty sick. I agree witht he other poster that said eat what you want. The potatoe and cheddar dinners by lean cuisine have been a life saver for me. also low fat trtader joe's french toast in the morning seem to jhelp. I leave saltines by my bedsided table and when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the athroom, i make sure i eat a few so my stomach is never empty. I am just exiting my first trimester and already feel so much better. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!
I feel for you. I was sick with each of my three pregnancies. My nutritionist gave me some helpful ideas that worked. Eat protein because protein is the last thing to leave your stomach and it absorbs the stomach acids that can make you feel sick. (Stay away from fatty foods)This worked for me. Even a few little bites of chicken made a difference. Eat food real hot or real cold.
Angel hair pasta tasted good and didn't make me feel sick. Add a little cheese or chicken for protein.
Sweet Tarts! (Halloween is soon so you can find the little mini packs and keep them in your purse)
7-11 Slushies
and probably the most difficult if you are working is SLEEP. Your body is going through a huge change and you need sleep!
Good luck...the reward at the end makes it all worth it!!!
Oh I am so sorry and I completely know how you feel. How far along are you? When I am pregnant I have Hypermesis which is accute morning sickness and I stay sick my entire pregnancy (but that is extremely rare so don't panic!!). If you try all the tricks ...
1.) eat before you get out of bed - crackers or something. I mean seriously BEFORE YOU GET OUT OF THE BED
2.) GInger
3.) Preggie Pops
4.)lots of water
5.) Lemonade
6.) pretzels / crackers
7.) keep your tummy as full as possible
8.) make sure you take your pre-natal after you have eaten and started to digest your food!
then talk to your doctor about Zofran. I am on it for the entire pregnancy but most women can stop it after a few months. It does have one nasty side effect (constipation) but it is worth the trade off.
This stuff is amazing - I call it liquid gold because within 3o seconds of taking it I was better. I never really stopped feeling icky but I did stop throwing up ... And I also learned that I needed to take it before bed - then it lasted 24 hours. If I took it at any other time of day I would still get sick at some point ... but that will be different for everyone.
Good Luck!
Hi D.,
Have you gotten any anti-nausea medication from your doctor yet? There are some pretty good ones out there now. They may not stop you from feeling sick (my good friend was sick 24 hours a day for 9 months - sorry!), but they will allow you to eat.
Good luck,
MC
How far along in the pregnancy are you? In most cases the sickness is worse in the first trimester and then gets better during the second.
Before trying any weird over-the-counter things, goofy herbs or supplements, or anything that seems out of the ordinary, PLEASE call your doctor and ask him or her what to try. Your doctor knows your medical health history and can give you the best advice.
Hi D.-
So sorry you are sick. I have four children and with my second I was sick and in and out of the hospital. Ask your doctor if you could try wearing the motion sicknes wristband. My sister-in-law is currently pregnant and she asked her doctor who said it was fine and she said it is not a cure but it does help. And everyone is different but sometimes it passes as you go along in your pregnancy. I used to also keep crackers by my bed, so before I would actually get out of bed I would eat a couple and sometimes that would help.
Good Luck!!! I have been there so I feel for you!

I was sick all the time with all 3 pregnacies! Eat small meals more often. Crackers took the edge off. If you start to feel hungry, don't wait. Have something right away. Believe it or not, it will ease the nausea. Carry something in your purse for when you are out, that way you are prepared. Good luck!!
First let me say, I am so sorry to hear that!! Every woman deserves to enjoy her pregnancy and constant nausea really makes that tough. One thing that my doctor told me that really helped was eat and drink ANYTHING that sounds good in order to get you through the first trimester. I was sick and trying to worry about nutrition and she said not to worry - your body will protect that growing baby so eat what sounds good. (If that is anything at all.) The other thing that helped was salty foods. In fact, spicy virgin bloody mary's with extra olives saved my life!!!!! It tasted so good, made me feel better and had some good stuff for my bod as well. I hope this helps and that you are feeling better soon! Take care!
