What age did you little one give up the morning nap? My 13 month old is giving me a real hard time about morning naps. The good news is she sleeps from 8pm to 7:30am. She wakes up at 5 wanting milk but then she is right back to sleep. When she takes naps they are only 30 to 45 min. I am worried because I was able to put her in bed and she would put herself to sleep now I fight her for 15 to 45 min. Is she old enough to go to one nap a day?

I don't think it as much about the age as it is about when they are ready. It sounds like she is ready if she is fighting it. Try not putting her down in the morning, and see how long it is until she starts to show signs of being tired. Then try one nap. If she is too cranky, try to just move the two naps closer together until she is down to one nap.

Good luck

My son was a little bit younger than your daughter when he gave up his morning nap and moved onto a very long 3 to 4 hour afternoon nap. He is now two and still takes a 2 to 3 1/2 hour nap and sleeps about 12 or 13 hours through the night. So I think it can be fine for them to give up their nap (especially if you see they are OK with it as well).

My daughter started on one nap just after she turned one and it's been wonderful! Instead of 2 short 1 1/2-2 hour nap I get a good 3 hours or more at about 12:30 which can help you get a lot more accomplished or a nice nap for yourself!

My little one was about 15 months old, but she was forced into one nap a day. Up till then, she was in a family member's care while I was at work, but at about 15 months, she went into Kinder Care. It was a tough first week or so, but she's been great ever since. However, she's 22 months old now, and on the weekends, if I'd let her, she'll sleep for 3 hours. During the week she gets right around 2.

My 14 month old has decided within the past couple of days that he no longer wants to take his afternoon nap. He needs it...but he won't sleep. My friends have now suggested pushing his morning nap forward a bit, until 12ish after lunch, in hopes that he will sleep longer during this nap. We shall see......

My daughter dropped her morning nap right around 13 months. I started putting her down at 11:30 and she would sleep until about 1:30-2:00 and then go to bed at 7:30. Like your daughter, my daughter was very resistant to going down for her morning nap so I just moved it up by an hour and she would go to sleep great so I just knew that it was time to drop it.

Hi,

My girl gave up the moring nap at 15 month old. She sleeps from 8pm-7am, then takes afternoon nap at 12:30-2pm or so. It took her almost one month to use to it. Once she is used to it, it becomes very easy to put her in bed and she will sleep in 10 mins. Good luck!

My first born gave up morning naps at 14 months and the second still takes naps at 16 months. Sadly, as long as she is sleeping about 12 hours anight, then she probably is getting enough sleep and she doens't get that morning nap. My second child looked like he was giving up naps at 12 months and then just went back to them. Mostly, we are in transition. If he does nap in the morning, I only let him sleep 35-60 minutes and then I get him up for sure, so he will nap later in the day. I just watch and listne. I'm a nap nazi in tha afternoon, however. He always goes down--even if he has to cry it out at first ( only 7 minutes, tops). Hang in there--I've read that babies who dont' sleep much are often really intelligent and enjoy the stimulation of being awake. :) You have a smart kid :)
