Hi all you wonderful moms!

I have read all the posts I can find on digital camears and I was hoping I might be able to get a little more insight on what I have learned. I currently have a Kodak Easy Share that is 2 1/2 years old which was accidentally left in the stroller bag and put in the trunk, subsequently smashing the LCD. My sister-in-law has a Canon PowerShot 790SD which she loves. I have many friends that have Canonns and I have loved the quality of pics they get. I have also heard great things about the Olympus waterproof shatterproof one. I recently got to see a Panasonic Lumix Z3 in action I have to say I fell in love with it. Right now it currently goes for $400 which is a little more than I want to spend. I was not even looking at Panasonics before this. If you know the big differences between the Z3 and Z1 I would love to hear about it. I would really just love to know what you think about any of this.

I greatly appreciate your time and hope each of you has a blessed day!!

S.

have you checked the pawn shops? they have cameras that are like new. people just want to update to the newest latest greatest thing and get rid of there old one. the cameras usually come with the box and all the extras. you can also haggle with the clerk. good luck.

My hubby loves cameras and photography is his hobby, so we've had our share of digital cameras. Plus, we've two little one who move super fast. <g>
We have a Cannon Powershot G9. It's not super small, but it is super fast! I just love it. It's the best small digital we've ever had. It also takes great movies.

I have a Sony Cyber-shot it is the older model only 3.2 mega pixels, but it is excellent. We purchased another camera - Kodak and it is a good camera but I do not know what I was thinking because it only has a LCD view and no other little window to look through. The LCD is good, but if you are outdoors you can not even see what you are trying to take a picture of. Yes, I know there is a setting on the camera for the sun, but by the time I locate it or remember how to get to it the picture I wanted of the kids are already gone. So, I told my husband to take are use the new Kodak and I will continue using my Sony.

But we both agree we just will not purchase another camera if it does not have both ways to view. We wish we had never made that purchase.

My mother and I have used Sony Cybershots over the past 10 years or so, upgrading every few years. I LOVE it because it's small, has a great zoom, great lens, great features (like hold the button and it takes multi pics, which is great for moving toddlers!) but my FAVORITE thing about this camera is how fast it starts up! In less than 3 seconds it's ready to go. And with kids, THAT is a must!

I have a D60 too, but that's for photo shoots (backyard, bluebonnets, etc.) over a travel, toss in your bag camera. It's great and I enjoy using it but it's big and hard to one hand.

Hi S.-

We bought a Nikon D60 a few months ago that we love. Before we made our choice we went to Wolf Camera and talked to one of their staff. You don't have to buy the camera from them, but they have the most knowledgable staff (regarding cameras) that we have been able to find in one place. If you let them know exactly how you use your camera and what you want they will direct you to the right one. Then go home and shop around for the best price.

Good luck,
K.

I have always used the following website to guide me to specifics. http://www.dpreview.com/

I have always stuck with Olympus and have never been unhappy. There are much better cameras that cost considerably more, but for a small, throw in the back/purse camera it is my favorite.

I just recently (last week) got a new digital camera. I got a Nikon L100. I am not all together happy with it. It is replacing an AWSOME Kodak easy share DX7630. I LOVE that camera. I was looking at another Kodak, but could not find any place that actually had it for me to hold in my hand and play with before I bought it. Lots of online purchasing options, though.

I would stick with what you know and love. I looked at the Panasonic and it was just too small for me.

I am going to still get used to me Nikon before deciding if I am going to return it.

Good Luck!
