Can someone please suggest a nice montessori school for my 3.5 yr old girl in coppell area? I am looking for some school where teacher student ratio is less. Charter school seems to be over crowded , so does any day care. Please suggest.

Hi, I know you were specific asking for montessori. But I agree with Wendy about Discover and Share. I have to drive 20 min back and forth to bring the kids there, but it is a wonderfull place. Not overcrowded. and the possibility to bring the kids part time, what often isn't possible at a monessori school. (see also the local business review) I have my almost 3 year old there for 2 days a week, and my almost 5 year old for 5 days a week. They both love it. If you like to have more info, please contact me.

I know that there is one in Carrollton just on Whitlock/Sandy Lake Rd and Old Denton and the name is A Child's Garden Montessori School. I don't know what it's like now but I am going to be taking a look at it soon. I used to work there yrs ago and I just loved them. It wasn't over crowded.

Good Luck!

When we wanted a Montessori-type program for our 23mo daughter, I toured several in Coppell and called several more. I wasn't so concerned with teacher/student ratio but I wanted a place where there was continuity in the staff, a challenging curriculum for the kids, and a good part-time schedule. When I found Carrollton Montessori Dickerson (just east of 35 on the north side of the George), it was a done deal for me -- quiet, well-behaved students, all the usual Montessori activities, good school nutrition guidelines, good schedules available, not out-of-line tuition. In my daughter's room, the lead teacher has 31 years of Montessori experience and 18 years at that one facility, and her two aides have each been there at least six years (ratio of at most 6 babies to 1 caregiver, but I never seem to see 18 kids there). I mean, it's a SCHOOL, not a daycare, even though the kids go down to 18 mos. My daughter's been going there a month now and she LOVES it! They're part of a big Montessori network; visit http://www.montessori.com/index_home.html to access the list of local facilities.

There is another Montessori almost directly a mile south of this one, on the other side of the George. I didn't tour it and I didn't call it, which means they didn't have a part-time program that worked for me, they weren't recommended to me, or they didn't have any Web presence (I at least called every one I found on the Web that posted a workable schedule). It's called Mona Montessori or something like that. Just fyi.

Please feel free to reply privately if you want to chat more about my experiences touring other facilities in the area. Hope this helps! :-)

I don't know about Montessori schools but I will tell you about Discover and Share in Coppell. They are a privately owed daycare and they provide a safe and loving place for your child to stay. I had toured several daycares when we moved here from Iowa and my daughter seemed to feel the most comfortable with them. She has learned allot since being there, spanish, numbers, shapes, alphabet, and now is writing and starting to read. She started when she was 2 1/2 yrs in the 3yr old room (because she was potty trained) and she is now 5 yr old in thier private kindergarten class. It is a great place at least maybe check it out.

There's Smart Start which is on Denton Tap. It's Reggia method but is very similar to Montessori but to me, sounds a little bit better. My neighbor's son goes to the school and she is very very pleased with the attention and education he's getting. I went to their open house and was impressed by the teachers. The one teacher we spoke to for our son's age group (2s) has over 25 years teaching experience. Another teacher we spoke with was also very experienced as a teacher. We were also impressed by the work the students had done in the classroom. It's all student driven, similar to montessori, which keeps the kids more driven imo to learn. Their web site is http://www.smartstartecec.com/Maincoppellpreschool.htm

There's also a montessori school near Everyone Fits. I don't know anyone who goes there, but you might look into it. http://www.coppellmontessori.com

I would second Smart Start. It is a wonderful facility where every teacher knows every child. It is a very warm and loving center. Children's artwork is hung on the walls of the school and it is a pleasure to look at all of them. tehy are not cookie cutter artwork but reflect the children's thoughts. My daughter will be starting in January. If you go to their website, you can read about the school, teachers and curriculum.
