Moms Who Have Wii, Please Come In

I just bought a Wii for my husband and 2 girls - 3 and 5 years old. I want to know, what games do you enjoy? I bought Madden Football for my hubby, and Dora as the Ice Princess for my girls. However, I'm starting to re-consider Dora. I fear that for the cost, my girls won't use it for long. Are there any other games you would suggest? My sister has it but she has boys. She suggested the dart game.

Any input if much appreciated! Stay warm moms!!

So What Happened?

I can't believe how many great ideas I got from you mom's! You're the best! I decided on the Carnival game and my girls love it! I like that it's not another licensed character (Dora, Princesses) item! I think I will be sticking with games or singing. I like the Wii as an escape from what we normally do. The kids are LOVING it and my DH was so surprised!!
Thanks again mom's!

My 5 year old son loves MarioKarts (and so do the big kids- my husband and I). You can connect online and play against people all over the world. Right now my son is playing Mario Super Sluggers, the mario characters playing baseball. The sell the bat attachment for it. Anything Mario is always a hit.

Hi D. - I have an almost 3 year old daughter who simply loves playing Wii. In fact, although we bought it for my son who was 9 when we got it, she plays it more than anyone in the house.

She does the Wii Fit (yoga, running, step, balance games, etc...and although she loves the Hula Hoop, she needs help with that because the board doesn't register her tiny hip movements!), the Wii Sport package (tennis, baseball, boxing) and Mario Kart racing.

She's independent to the extreme and really likes the whole process, starting with loading the games herself, getting herself started and navigating the screens.

I have a very energetic child, who much prefers the great outdoors, but Wii has provided a great way to keep her active on these frigid, stay-in-the-house days.

Hi D.
Not sure if you have a Circuit City near by but I just went there today and all the games are 30% off and they still had a bunch left. You might be limited to what you can get but I bought 2 games I wanted and paid about $50 for both. As for game selection I have 3 boys so I dont think I can help you out there.

We got the Wii system because I wanted to do Wii Fit (a separate component with balance board and other fitness games). My 6yo daughter likes the bowling, tennis, and baseball that comes with the Sport package (I think that's what Wii usually comes with). She also likes doing the Wii Fit games, yoga, balance, aerobics, etc. These include yoga poses, ski jumping, slalom ski, tightrope walking, soccer head shots, hulahoop, etc. We haven't tried them all yet.

My girls really enjoy the Disney Princess game. It's $20 at Toys R Us and it took them a long time to get through it all and they enjoy making new characters and going back through and playing again. You can't lose either, so they don't get frustrated with it. My youngest really gets into it.

My daughter is 6 and she got the Pajama Sam game and beat that in less than a month and we got the Diego game and she beat that in 2 hours! There are still little games she can play on Diego, but it is no longer interesting, so I feel your pain! Mostly we do the sports and we got the Wii Fit and she loves those too. We got Crazy Golf for kids, but it is a bit more challenging (just make sure you set the controller to the "arcade" setting!)

We have Wii music and have fun with that. I think you might like it. You also could have all four of you play at once.
Hope this helps,

My 5 yo loves our Wii and is quite good at it. She loves the Disney Princess game and it's nice because it talks to you so she can play on her own. She also loves Mario Party 8- My personal favorite also- it's great fro the whole family. Some of the games might be challenging for the little ones, but they will grow into it. We recently got the Littlest Pet Shop, it's very fun and simple enough for them, but you have to read the directions to them the whole time!! Have Fun!

I love Mario Kart - my daughter can play that one too (she's 4). We also have Cooking Mama, which is fun and family friendly. I am considering buying the Disney Princess Game for my daughter, and I'm getting a Wii Fit in tonight! We downloaded a game called Brain Challenge, and we all like that one. Good luck! I'm interested in hearing other responses!

My daughter is 4 and has a very small attention span...if she plays it at all, its only for a few minutes...but she likes the bowling, golf and boxing. She thinks its fun to box daddy!!! My daughter is all girl and loves princess things, but she really has fun with the action games....yours might too and they don't cost as much as the other ones.

Our family loves Carnival games for WII. It's all of the games you would find at a carnival. Pop the balloon on the clowns head, darts, flip the frog onto a lily pad, skeeball, test your strength, and lots more. I've noticed that games that are character oriented like dora, spongebob, lose their "fun" factor after awhile, they sometimes can be seen as too easy. Good luck and have fun!

We like the "carnival games" or any sonic or mario games. Mario SuperSluggers, Mario & Sonic Olympic Games, Carnival mini-golf, MarioParty 8, MarioKart Wii. These are all fun games and kid friendly. My son is 5, has had a stroke(due to an undiagnosed CHD at birth) and only uses his left hand to play Wii games. We try to get him to use both hands to play games, but I try to find games that typically only use the controller w/o the nunchuck. Good Luck!

I have the Wii and bought a couple extra games for the kids...but to be honest we still love playing the Wii sports together the most! I think the cost for the others is pretty ridiculous unless you can get them used. We have a used Winter Sports game that's a lot of fun too. I would say get things that you can all enjoy together because that is what will most likely get their attention is if you seem to enjoy it too.

If you have a Blockbuster in your area I highly recommend buying the game pass. We just renewed ours it's been so great! For $20 a month you check out any game for as long as you like, that's it. I have three kids and they take turns picking out games. There have been times when the kids really want to try a much hyped game and after getting it home it's not as great as they thought. With the pass we just swap it out for another game whenever we want. We have kept some really great games for over two weeks and returned some stinkers within hours. Wii games are soooo expensive to buy and renting can get pricey if you rent one a week.
Also check out Game Stop for used games!
