I am looking to talk with other moms with children who have growth disorders.
My 4 yr old daughter has just undergone a growth hormone stimulation test and we
are awaiting the results. Hoping to find some other moms who have been here...

Hi J.! Has your daughter, besides having developmental and growth issues, had any medical challenges? IF SO, besides being tested for growth and hormone issues, you might consider having her physicians look into VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY and ANEMIA or FOOD ALLERGIES (both can be a symptom of Vitamin D Deficiency - my child had both). Could she also have an undiagnosed heart condition delaying her growth? (Not trying to scare you - just something to consider and have physicians look into.) My daughter also had a minor congenital heart condition. It was monitored by cardiac specs. from birth (annually) and told she would eventually outgrow it - not really causing her any probs. By age 6 (she was still wearing size 3T) she was anemic for 2 years "for unknown reasons" then found to have food allergies, and wanted to sleep 1/2 a day at school. She ended up having the heart surgery because she wouldn't outgrow that "minor" problem. The GREAT news is that within 10 mos., she grew from 3T to size 6 and is much more alert and thriving today.

I highly recommend the "RAST" test to determine if your child has food allergies. You can eliminate any offending foods which can cause loss of blood or protein in their stools, which can delay their growth as their body is not absorbing the nutrients their growing bodies need.

Hope this is helpful. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further help at ____@____.com.

J.,

Both my children were on growth hormone until the age of 16 for my daughter and 18 for my son. They are both over 21 now.
I cannot tell you when normal life begains or even what it is.
As a former special ed teacher you should undertand that normal is a dream of those who were not as blessed as we were with children without special needs.

My children were given shots daily at bedtime. (6 six a week) The shot is simular to a insulin shot and realy does not hurt at all if given properly. It is simple to give. I can say it did help with not only the hieght of my children but with the development of organs as well.

It not as bad as it sounds. And it has many more benifits than draw backs unlike many other treatments out thier for children.
