I have heard of these, too, but never paid close attention since I am not a mom yet (due in 4 weeks!). But I think you can check the daily movie listings in the paper and it should tell you. Good luck!
Does anyone know of a movie theater that does Mommy Matinees? This is where a first-run movie is shown in the afternoon and it's OK to bring smaller kids who might be a little active. It seems I heard of some a few years ago, of course, before I had a kid, so I didn't pay attention! Thanks.

Kerasotes in Inver Grove Heights does "Matinee Movie Magic for Moms (and Dads)" every Tuesday -- it's the first showing of the day for every movie. It is great. I went all the time when I was staying at home with my daughter. See http://www.kerasotes.com/SpecialFilmsEMail.aspx?Type=Movi... to sign up for the newsletter/movie schedule.
The Oakdale Theatre does matinnees on Sundays for a lower price for kids and families. I think the movies are Rated G though. You might want to call them up. Marcus Theatres I think.
I'm pretty sure Block E does this either tuesday or wednesday afternoon. they keep the lights up and turn down the sound, however I'm pretty sure they are usually kids or family movies. The Mall of America has toddler tuesdays but I'm not sure if the movie theater does anything special. Good luck!
