I see a lot of people asking how to price stuff for a mom2mom sale. But have not seen anyone ask how to price these things. I will be doing my first one in a few weeks and am selling a few car seats and a travel system stroller that is basically brand new and trying to figure out how much i should sell these items for. See for saying brand new i mean i only used it a handful of times because i had 3 different strollers and another car seat and i am also throwing in the base to it which is another $40 plus the system that was $200 so i was thinking 125 and would take a little less but im not sure if that is to much. or if thats ok

What can I do next?

You have to remember moms go to mom2moms for deals. I hear a lot of complaints when items are priced high. Example right before christmas I went to one and people had their items high. If it was a month prior they would sell a lot cheaper. Items were not moving.
In general you should never buy a used car set, so you may have to sell those real cheap. The stroller can be a bit more, but as a rule of thumb for any sales (per HGTV) price it a 1/4 of what you paid for it. Yep, a 1/4. That sucks, but it is reality. I belong to a few different moms groups and we talk about how we got great deals on items at mom2moms. We also talk about the poor ladies that had their items priced too high and did not have items moving. If you want it gone, price it so it will be.

The general rule of thumb for any type of garage/mom to mom sales is to charge 10-20% of what you paid for it originally. Of course, some things you may want to charge a little more, some a little less depending on the condition of it.

Good luck with your sale.

everyone is so different and there idea of what is almost brand new. Look at it for a while and think to yourself what would you pay for it, what would you LIKE to pay for it, and what do you THINK others might pay for it. Be picky look for dirt marks, strings hanging, scuffs, or missing stickers. Then from there price it somewhere in-between. Dont be hesitant to price it a little on the higher side and be ready to barter and haggle, and flexible. Dont be too rigid on pricing it turns people off. I bought a 140$ swing brand new that I used for my son for 6 months. He was in it maybe 20 times in that 6 months. Never had an accident or a spit up. Perfect shape, EXCEPT I cook a lot of Indian food and use oil frequently in cooking I know I smell of it, and I am sure my stuff does too even though I lost the ability to smell it. So I take that into consideration. I dont have pets I dont smoke but I have certain strong smells in my home. I washed it all but I am sure some of the smell lingers and the box has taken on some smells. I put it up for 75$ and ended up getting 55$ for it.

I think that price sounds fine. I like the suggestion to look at craigslist. I have had very good luck selling and buying strollers on craigslist so if you think you have it priced fairly and it doesn't sell that may be a good place to put it. I sold my Chico stroller (that is usually part of a system) for $80 without any car seat 2 years ago on craigslist and I am not sure I would have gotten that much at a mom2mom (but maybe I was lucky to get that price for it?). I also bought my Graco infant car seat with 2 bases for $35 4 yrs ago at a mom2mom but thought I got a pretty good deal at the time. Good luck!

I have been selling at mom2momsales for years. I usually go on craigslist and find a similar item and price accordingly. You want your items to sell and do not want to drag them home, so sell reasonably.

You may not be able to sell the car seat due to the state of Michigan’s laws on reselling used car seats (they do not know if this seat was in an accident.)

Good Luck and bring a smile, alot of change (and a helper!)

I always think like, how much would I pay for it. And go from there. But I also price/think lower because I don't like hauling the stuff back home.
