My son is 6 months old and i am having problems at night with him staying dry. I've tried huggies nighttime, pampers, target brand. He has been wet, peeing through diaper and pjs and of course waking up!!
What are your favorite diapers and what ones worked for you to keep your little guy dry?!
Thank you for your help!!!!

What can I do next?

My son had this problem too. I tried all kinds of diapers. The huggies night time worked most of the time but are very expensive.

I fixed this problem by putting a maxi pad in his regular huggies diaper. I know it sounds crazy but it works and I no longer had to change his clothes or his bedding in the middle of the night.

Look through these past posts about diaper doublers:
http://www.mamapedia.com/search?query=diaper+doublers

Only way I could keep my son dry at night, but they can be hard to find. You may have to buy online.

Kirkland brand from Costco
I would buy the next size up & use only for nighttime.

I, also, would do a "last change for the night" in his sleep. Very gently so
as not to rouse him from his slumber.

I used a mattress pad (cloth not the wrinkly, plastic kind).

I put the mattress pad down, a thin blanket then the fitted sheet. On top of that I put one more soft thin blanket & another fitted sheet.
This way if he wet the bed in the middle of the night, I only had to change him very quietly (& maybe feed him) then rip off the top soiled sheet & towel or cover. There would be a clean one underneath so I could put him back down on dry sheets! Hope that helps.

just a thought, do you make sure his "fire hose" is pointed down? It makes a big difference. Other than that I used Huggies Night Time diapers in 1 size larger than his daytime one. :)

Usually it's more about size than brand. Get a bigger size!

What has worked for me is using the next size up like others suggested, but I double diaper him at night. I use the top diaper as the bottom diaper (or one closet to the skin) the next night so I don't end up wasting two diapers. This has been the best solution for me. I also use the night time diapers, but I don't think they make them for that young.

I haven't read your responses...but we size up and use two diapers (any brand). Works like a charm - been doing this since my son was about 4 months old (he is 10 months now).

Huggies Overnights did the trick for my guys when they started leaking threw at night. However, to reduce the cost of the overnights, I invested in a couple all in one cloth diapers (one size), and just put over the diaper and it prevented the leaking through for us.

Good luck I had a lot of diapering issues with my 2nd, I'm glad he's finally heading towards being potty trained :)

We used huggies... but I've found it's less about what brand of diaper, and more about

1) what shape your baby is. Some babies are huggies shaped, others are pampers shaped, others are whatever shaped ;)

2) I always changed my son's diaper as the last thing I did before going to bed at night. If he was still dryish, I'd just gently put two fingers on his bladder. Change diaper. Go to bed. I started off doing this about an hour before I would go to bed (in case he woke), but after about a week he just slept through.

Hi,

Luvs worked for our son. I also went through all the different brands and used they were the only brand that kept him dry.

Good luck!

I use Huggies Overnights with my little guy and find that as long as they are the right size or a little too big we can go 11-12 hours without a leak. This was true of my first son as well.

I would try sizing up, as everyone else has suggested, and I really think, with the right diaper, you won't have to wake him to change the diaper or try to change him in the night without waking him up.

I've had this problem with both of my kids, oldest is a girl and my little boy just turned 2. We use a regular Huggies Snug and dry during the day and when going to bed. I then have to go in around midnight and change his diaper and we use a Huggies Overnight. With both of the kids at one point those were even leaking. I then purchased a wool diaper cover used for cloth diapers over the top of the overnight diaper. We rarely had wet pajamas after that. Good luck!

Costco brand was great for our twin grandsons and kept them dry. Now will be getting them for our new granddaughter in the future. She's in Huggies but too young still to soak them at night much.

go up a size in diapers

They sell diaper liners, you can add those in as well, or put a feminine pad in the front of his diaper.

Make sure he points DOWN.

I have skinny kids so I have always used Pampers but my 3rd kid is a bottle milk drinker at night and pees a lot. The only thing that has worked is Huggies Overnights an extra size up.
