Unless you really want to have her open a gift....as a mom I would appreciate a few tickets to the zoo so we could go enjoy a day together and not have more toys in the house.
HI my distant relative is having a bday party for her DD while we will be in town visiting so we get to celebrate her 2nd birthday wtih them.
I"d lilke to bring a gift. I know the Little girl has a brother a few years older, and they live in a smallish house.
Any ideas what would be a great gift in the $15 -$30 range. I do usually see them at christmas and always give boardbooks, and buying clothing is not an option. So i'm looking for a toy or riding toy type gift, Is there anything your 2 you girls love right now???

When my daughter was two her favorites were a small baby doll with a stroller and some bottles/diapers; a shopping cart with food; and Fisher Price Snap 'n Style dolls. In fact, she's 4 1/2 and the baby dolls and Snap 'n Style dolls are still among her favorites.
My 2 year old daughter and a few of her friends are very into Minnie Mouse. They have these really cute snap and style Minnie Mouse sets for $15 - $25 at Toys R Us that my daughter plays with all the time!
In addition to the stroller, play food and shopping cart, my 2 yo loved her princess dress up clothes, play jewelry, magic wants, crowns, lip gloss, nail polish, etc. She still loves dressing up at 3 1/2! I usually get those type of things at Marshalls or TJ Maxx so they're not full price anyway.
Before you consider buying an experience like zoo tickets, you may want to consult with the family as they may already have family passes to those places. While I love the idea of an experience, we already have zoo passes, COSI passes, play cafe passes, etc. so it would be a waste of money for the gift giver to give us those things because you cannot return them.
My 2yo LOVES her shopping cart. lol. She uses it as a stroller for her dolls, and loves to put things in it and push them around. :)
I can't remember how much it cost, but it's not much at all. :)
Playdough, washable markers, crayons and paints are always good, also coloring books, craft paper. A baby buggy type stroller is good, a fresh baby doll, at that age we got my dd a scooter she still loves but it was way more than $30. Most riding toys are.
My daughter loves her toy grocery store cart and pretend food. She also loves her pop up tent. They make little playhouse tents you can put up in your living room for about that price.
Ask the parents. We prefer giving either consumables, or experiences, because we are anti clutter, and suspect most people feel the same way. Giftw we would give would include- a tub of cookie dough, or a jar of cookie mix. Or a day at the zoo.
I'm buying my daughter a toy shopping cart for her 2nd birthday in a couple of months. I'm going to let her take it with us to the store. Toy strollers and babydolls are also great gifts. Doodleboards with magnets or white dry erase boards are great gifts for small children, too.
Holy cow Sheryl S.I was going to suggest the exact same Minnie mouse set! I just bought it for my just turned 3 year-old niece and she LOVED it
The toy is for ages 2+ and they have snap on shoes, dress etc. the pieces are not small like the Polly pocket sets, these are much larger and easy to grab for a 2 year-old.
Anyways I second Minnie Mouse :o)
