I have a question to she how many people out there have had uterine fybroids that have been removed or you have them now. If so if you have had your uterius taken out and how the procedure was. How well you did after the procedure? What to expect. Or if you have them now, how you are dealing with the pain and pressure. Adding to this, what about disk herniation around the C5-6 area. that can come with vertigo. Migranes? I have so many questions, but I'm trying to see if anyone has these some of these issues, and how are you dealing with these issues. And have 3 kids to take care of.

What can I do next?

Yes Angie, I have uterine fibroids and have had them removed and have also had them come back. I too, have back problems, too many to go into along with migraines. I, also, have 3 children and would love to talk to you. Please email me at ____@____.com. I have found some wonderful success in getting rid of my migraines, and I saw the best team of doctors at Northwestern for all of my female problems. Please email me, would love to talk! T.

Hi Angie,

I have had no personal experience with this, but my mom had uterine fibroids removed and it was simply a D&C procedure. I would avoid having my uterus removed if at all possible, as it is major surgery that is often times not necessary, but rather the simplest way for the doctor to deal with something. It will also mess with your hormones. Hope this helps...

Angie,

I had my fibroids removed via myomectomy by a fertility specialist. My gyn sent me to him because "they do this kind of surgery all of the time." This was in Florida and before I had children. I had two very large fibroids plus a large polyp so laproscopy was not an option it was either a myomectomy or a hysterectomy. Since I had not had children I still wanted that chance. What I understood was that the recovery time for both was about the same. I was not allowed to work or drive for 4 weeks (to make sure that I healed properly for a better chance at having children in the future). A year later I had to have scar tissue removed (a day surgery). I now have small fibroids covering most of the inside of my uterine wall, but have a wonderful 15 month old and am expecting my second child in July. I continue to have painful, heavy periods but it is nothing compared to the pain that often made me close to passing out that I had before. I was basically on pain medication the first couple of days of my period before the surgery. There is a lot of info online. Make sure you get all of your questions answered by the surgeon before you make you decision. Good luck.

I had my fibroids removed by Dr. Charles Miller, who specializes in laprascopic myomectomy. I definitely recommend him and the special procedure he uses. He works with patients both with and without fertlity issues. Here's his website:

Best of luck!

I have had fibroids removed during a 'simple' D&C procedure because I had excess lining as well. I have always had horrible periods and have gone on the deposhot to control them as best as possible along with keeping my PCOS in 'check'. I also suffer from migraines, part of which are made worse with the depo, but it's easier to deal with then the bleeding for 8 days every 4 weeks or so..
