Hi Moms, My dear friend lives in New York and just sent me the most beautiful photo of her baby sitting in a pile of fall leaves---oh my heart yearned for being near big trees that were loosing their leaves for the season to take a photo of my baby boy--we live in Gilbert AZ, does anyone know of any park or location in the Phoenix area that has big fall trees?
I don't know of any places, but just wanted to write and say that I totally sympathize with what you're saying. I'm from the upstate New York area and this time of year is the hardest to be away....fall is so beautiful in that part of our country.
The fall colors don't hit here until dec/january, but I love walking around ASU's campus when they are off for Christmas break. The campus is very quiet then and there are a decent amount of trees to look at.
How about taking a road trip up north (perhaps Sedona or Prescott). The leaves may be turning up there.
The last week of November is the Fall Foliage Finale at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior (head east on the 60 about an hour from Phoenix). They have some beautiful chinese pistache that turn red. There are also some trees that turn yellow out there too. Give them a call and ask how much fall color is showing, but usually by the end of November it's pretty good. That's probably the closest you'll get to fall color without going further north to Prescott or Flagstaff.
