I work out of my home and my son is 15 months old. I am doing some more work on the phone and I would love some ideas on how to keep him busy while I have clients on the line. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a few tricks but I need some more. Thanks in advance for your help!

I keep a box of stickers and crayons that he can only play with when I need to get something done. He LOVES stickers. We use the little note pads that you get in the mail when you make a donation. The dollar store had tons of cheap stickers. He is 17 months old and just finished "making" Halloween cards. Very cute-

You might also want to consider hiring someone to watch him for an hour or two each day in your home so you can return calls without interruptions.

I have some idea for you which I try with my 4-month old son. All his awake time he is looking for my attention, he don't care if I am on the phone or do some things. So I start to make faces: smile, imitate his face. You can do this when you on the phone, other people can't see you and...they do not hear baby crying!!!
This way you can keep your baby happy and talk to your customers.
P.S.: both my husband and I working most of our time on the phones and first it was very chalenging.

I also work from home and sometimes my (17month) son is not at day care. I turn on Baby Einstein. Yes, he zones out, but he is not squawking at me and trying to play with the phone.

I'm trying to finish my dissertation with a two year old so I have a lot of tricks, but the best it to let him stand at the sink on a chair and use the water sprayer--it is usually best reserved for times of desperation, but it does work. I also make salt dough (he won't eat it like he does play dough) and let him sit in a chair and play with it. As I'm sure you know the messier it makes the house while I'm trying to work the happier he seems to be. Also, treats work wonders a bunch of grapes will usually buy me ten minutes! Good luck, you're not alone. Also, I try to schedule as much for his nap time as possible (as I'm sure you do too). He's also in preschool for 5 hours a week which really helps (5 very productive hours for me!).
