I would avoid talking about your family life as much as possible in interviews. Discrimination against moms is illegal but it's an unfortunate reality in this society's unflexible working culture. Go to www.MomsRising.org and pose your question to the experts there for some suggestions on how to steer clear of family-related questions, such as those you mentioned above, and take action against discriminatory policies. I wish I could help you on your job search, but all I can say is keep your eyes on all the job boards and interview smart. Good luck!

I understand your dilemma, I have a college degree and have yet to use it. I graduated 5 years ago when my daughter was 1 and have been an at-home-mom since. I send resumes, I have interviews but they never go anywhere. I decided to go with a job I can do with my kids. I am an Independent Consultant for Usborne Books and I absolutely LOVE it. I do home shows but mostly I focus on selling to schools. I am hoping to branch out to public libraries after Christmas. I do what I can with my son and what I can't I schedule while my son is in Preschool.
