I have five children and we like to spend vacations together but couple of my children are young mothers and money is sometimes tight and do not want to leave them out and we are desparately looking for a great place for all to vacation together and still be able to afford. We usually camp, and have been to almost all the camp sites and beaches in Texas not to mention cities like San Antonio, Houston and all four corners of Texas.
My aunt and her family went cabin camping at Boiling Springs in Woodward, Ok. They came back saying how great it was. I think that it was very affordable.

Have you checked out Arkansas? Beautiful scenery, nice cities and only a short drive from TX. If you look online you can get tons of free literature and ideas.
Broken Bow in Okalahoma is great. It is affordable and a very clean lake with lots for every budget.

Have you looked at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX? Is is an indoor waterpark with activities for all the kids. the room rates are pricey BUT they hold more people and they include admission to the park. Go to their website and look at the rooms. They actually have little cabins with bunk bends in the rooms for the kids so you still get that camping out feeling. I have not been but will soon. I hope this helps.
We love Destin, FL and you can get some pretty good deals.
To save money, we get a larger unit and each family takes a room, which means kids sleep on air matresses, but it is fun to be together.
