Haven't read that title, but there are some others I would suggest. I have read all of these. I think all of them would be OK for a 14 year old, but I might not be as conservative as others might be.
I loved The Kiss of Deception (princess who doesn't want to be married off so runs away not knowing an assassin and the prince she was supposed to marry have tracked her). The sequel is on my to-be-read list.
I also liked Cinder (cyborg Cinderella). There are some others in the series, but I haven't read them yet.
If she likes kind of scary books Far, Far Away is good (a very loose modern-ish retelling of Hansel and Gretel).
The Body in the Woods is a good mystery novel about a group of teens who have been trained as search and rescue. I think there are others in the series.
The Tragedy Paper is a realistic fiction book about a kid who is albino who attends a private school. It kind of reminded me of some of the "classics" I read in high school like A Separate Peace.
