Have you been taking him to a pool a lot lately? Sometimes the chemicals in the pool will dry out the inside of the nose and make it bleed. You could use a little vaseling on the tip of a Qtip and put it in his nose or get some saline spray for the nose and just give him a couple of squirts a few times a day. Both things work wonders for nose bleeds.

Sometimes it's just dryness in the air. So you have a cool mist humidifier you could run at night?

It is probably because of the heat like everyone else said. My oldest used to get these when he was young. The doctors said to get some Vaseline and using a q-tip put a little on and put inside the nostrils at night and I would do it in the late afternoon. There are nasal sprays that add moisture too but doing that in a child is always hard. Good Luck!

Desseri:

It could lots of different things...

No humidity and her nasal passages are dried out.

If she sticks her fingers up her nose - the capillaries in our noses are VERY close to the surface and can bleed very easily...

She could have allergies....and blowing the nose frequently can cause nose bleeds - especially if she blows HARD.

My daughter had a very low tolerance to caffeine - so she could get a bloody nose eating chocolate...

Talk to your pediatrician and get her checked out ....or go to an ENT...

It's been particularly hot this last week, did the nose bleed just start? My mom gets them when it's really hot.

I'm w/Jane K, but as our pediatrician gently put it........digit trauma. And the cure was simple, he explained to her that if she continued to do that, her finger would get stuck up there and it would be stuck there forever. Never again did she have a bloody nose, well, not from that anyways. Best of luck to you!

My daughter gets really bad nose bleeds and has ever since she was 3. Her's are mostly allergy related. We swap her nostrils with vasaline or a medicine called Bactraban, and that helps a lot. Also, if you can't get a nose bleed to stop, we have discovered that an ice pack on the back of the neck makes it stop quickly.

Well, I know this is gross, but make sure your child is not picking their nose first off. If not, then maybe it could be some sort of allergies.

A friend of mine gets bloody noses whenever it's too hot. Try to stay in air conditioned places. Also limit playing outside during the middle of the day, when it's hottest out.
