Hey! I would not make a big deal out of it...it's a little unsightly and annoying but not detrimental. My brother had it on his chest and the pediatrician told us we could either leave it alone, let it disappear in about a year or we could use Retin-A cream once daily and it might take about 3 months to disappear. We tried the cream, and it disappeared completely in about 2 months. He has since then gotten it again on his arm and elbow and we are trying the same treatment again. But as long as they have it, if they share clothing or towels with anyone else, they could spread it. I think my brother shared a towel with a cousin at the pool and got it that way to start with.
