You will need to find an agency...send in a couple of good snap shots of her and see if any agencies are interested.

Children typically do not need head shots as they are always changing and would have to be redone every three to six months.

Do not pay out any money...reputable agencies make their money by booking work for you. Not in any other way...they should not sell photos or classes.

If you do get offered representation read the contract carefully and know how you can break it...what their fees are...and so forth and so on.

It is tough and competitive...but good luck.

It's a hard life. I had a good friend whose children were into modeling. Well, she was into their modeling -- they weren't.

They spent most of their toddler years and early elementary years going to one audition or another, and sitting in long lines waiting. They got good at living out of back packs and eating lunch on the floor. They were absolutely adorable kids with A+ personalities and they barely got any work. The competition was crazy. Turns out that a lot of people think their kids are adorable.

So while all the other neighborhood kids were out playing in the park or riding bikes or hanging with friends, etc., she and her kids were sitting inside waiting in long lines for pretty much nothing. They got rejected over and over, and it was hard on them. And it cost her more than they ever made. Not worth it in my opinion.

A good agency will let you know if they are interested with just you giving them a headshot. And if they are interested they will pay for everything after that. So don't fall for anyone telling you that you need different pictures or more pictures, and that you have to pay anything out of pocket for them.

I am not a fan of the modeling industry... not for kids or teens. It's a tough business. I don't know much about baby modeling though. That would probably depend on how your baby looks, obviously, but also her temperament.

My nephew did some modeling when he was about 7/8 years old. It was a lot of work, very competitive and lots of rejection. Jobs are often booked quickly so if you have other kids you must have a sitter ready to go at a moment's notice. My SIL finally got tired of making the three hour round trip drive in to San Francisco for jobs that either (a) didn't pay that well or (b) he ended up not getting used that day for the shoot after all.
You can send your child's photos into an agency but I wouldn't expect much response, I imagine they get hundreds of photos a month. My nephew was "discovered" at a local mall, by a reputable agent who simply passed his card on to my SIL with an indication that my nephew had a good look for print work.
Most importantly, stay away from anyone who asks for money for anything, your child doesn't need classes, a portfolio, professional photos or training. THERE IS NO COST to get started, anyone who tells you otherwise is just taking your money. Agents are seeking a LOOK, period, either your kid has it or not. It has to do more with current popular taste and culture, not pure physical beauty.

Get some photos done and send them to agencies. but remember, anyone who asks you for money is scamming you.

my guess is it is more about how cooperative a baby is then how good looking. Can your daughter handles strangers hovering around adjusting her hair/clothes. pointing cameras at her while you are on the other side of the room?

I think it's more about temperament & personality than it is about looks. I often look at the kids on TV & in ads & think "my kid is way cuter than that kid", but then I think of how stubborn & inflexible she can be, and I knew better than to try modeling. Despite the many comments on how beautiful she was/is, she's just not easy going enough. Honestly, everyone thinks their kid is cute, but just being cute does not a model make.

You mentioned that you didn't want direct competitiveness. Modeling is competitive by nature - your child won't get picked every time, if at all, and will have to experience rejection & other negative things. Just something to think about before you dive in.

Send a picture to an agent. If they don't bite let it go. Modeling agencies just want your money.

My youngest was one of those kids that even other kids made over. I would never do this to her. I love her too much to trade her childhood for money.

I did it for 10 yrswith my girls. They were the best and most insane yrs ever! The stories I could tell.......... Call World of Kids or some others down on south beach. They know good photographers to get a good comp made. Nothing to extravagent because she will change in a few months. You can use a snapshot for now. Make sure she can be handled by tons of different people. They look for personality/character/type.
