Hi,
My son will turn one next week and we believe he is absolutely gorgeous . We have been told by numerous random people we should get him into modeling and things like that. He won the sunburst beauty pagent here locally bit we have since tread it is just a joke. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the ball rolling. When my son gets old enough to decide for himself if this is something he wants to continue we will however.if its something he loses interest in that's fine too. Just wanting to see what the options are and how to get started. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My parents heard the same thing about me as a baby... contacted an agent... got the head shots done... saw the price tag and stopped.

You have to be able to invest significant time into this career, and it is a career. You will be taking your child on auditions and have to start teaching him to deal with being rejected based solely on his looks at a very young age. Please keep that in mind.

If this is what you want to do, contact a local modeling agency and make an appointment. They will guide you in the process.

Go to fordmodels.com and upload pictures.

I have a friend who is a talent rep for musicians and he gets emails all the time from Ford asking about child models. Because they grow so fast children have to be replaced every 6 months for commercial work.

ditto ford models. you can do it all online. do not use anyone that wants to charge you an upfront fee (even for pics)

My nephew did some modeling when he was a little boy. The only thing you need to do is submit your child's photo to an agency. Just a regular photo, a reputable agency won't require a portfolio or professional photos, and if they ask for that or want you to spend money on photos or lessons or anything else turn around and walk away.
Legitimate representation costs NOTHING.
It doesn't really matter how "cute" he is, they are usually looking for a particular "look." My nephew was discovered by an agent at a mall (I'm sure they liked his white/Asian look, he's got great coloring and skin) and again, it did not cost anything to get started (I can't tell you how many scams there are out there, like I said, if they ask for money it's not the real deal!)
Of course this all depends on where you live. Most of the work is in in large cities. All my nephew's jobs we booked in San Francisco, which was a three hour round trip drive, and they didn't always end up using him. That's why he ended up quitting, it was a lot of time and money (gas, missed work) often with short notice, and the pay wasn't that great, even with solid print work with retailers like Macy's. It got old quickly.

Oh gees... Research this topic here!!

Modeling is WORK

Are you prepared for the rejections ? You WILL get for the numerous casting calls you get IF your child's photo is selected for a casting call?

Modeling is a JOB it is hard work. You must realize that your child will not be the "ONE" for every job. You and your child must take rejection well, go to casting calls which are not convenient for you.

If you still choose to try this route... You spend $0.00 for pictures, etc. if n agency is interested, they will contact you for a casting call. No one fits every model ad.... Expect and respect rejection

If your child does excel make sure you put any $$$ earned into your child's account.

Modeling is a tough but rewarding business ( I've been in it all my life) but also a very brutal business.

If anyone ask for $$..... RUN away

I've modeled for many years as well as my daughter. Reputable agencies around here are Kim Dawson and Campbell

its a long career of last min auditions and long work hours if he is booked. agents should never ask for money. they get paid when your child books a job.
sunburst is a good pageant system. if he really likes to smile and pose on cue then you can try to get him in with fords models. not sure how hard it is to get in.
