I just found out last Tuesday I was pregnant...6 weeks...us done....hb 100..yolk sac found......went in to md for spotting/irregular period for 3 weeks. They took hormone levels and wanted me back 2 days later. The next day I started spotting agian...they called and progesterone was 3..very low so put on progesterone vag suppos....and hcg was 21000. Next day gave blood for repeat hcg.....spotting stopped. Friday they called and said hcg was only 25000...not doubled. Long weekend....went in for repeat ultrasound yesterday....hb only 70....fetus measuring only at 6 weeks still should have been 7 weeks.....soooo....now waiting for repeat us in one week and then they said if no improvement or decline will schedule D and C. I don't feel pregnant...no nausea, only backache....prob from lifing my 18 month old.... any advice from anyone or anyone have experience with this? Is this a miscarriage waiting to happen?? Thanks so much everyone.

What can I do next?

I've had 7 miscarriages. With what you are describing, it is leaning toward a miscarriage. If the numbers don't double, the chances are it will not continue. You aren't far enough along to have a heart beat yet. In a few weeks, if the baby is viable, a heart beat will be present. The doctor will not schedule a D&C if the baby has a heart beat. Either way, there is nothing you can do about it and there is nothing you did to cause it. Easier said than done, you need to relax and take it easy.

My step-sister went through something very similar. She had very low hcg that didn't double ( I mean crazy low) , she spotted heavy, back ache etc....Her ultrasound measured 4 weeks behind where she should have been, and she delivered a very healthy baby boy at 40 wks. Best of luck to you.

Please do not get a D&C if your baby still has a heartbeat, even if it is low. The doctors can be wrong, their heart rate machines can be wrong. If it were me, I'd wait it out and see what happens naturally. And, keep taking progesterone. It isn't a one time deal. I use bio-identical progesterone cream. From what I understand (too late as I just had a miscarriage last month) is that you should be using it every 6 hours around the clock, even waking up to an alarm in the middle of the night. Best wishes. I pray everything goes okay. But, I would never have a D&C without being totally sure that there is an actual NEED for it (the baby did not pass on its own, or left some of the placenta or other parts inside my uterus and I wasn't healing properly).

I just had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. I also didn't feel pregnant. I went in for an ultrasound and the baby was measured at 6 weeks when I am 8 weeks pregnant. I started spotting the day before my doc appointment so I knew something was wrong. The doc said the baby / sac didn't grow too much in the past two weeks and to let my body do its thing and indeed i miscarried.

Just wait to see if there is a heartbeat in the next couple of weeks. If you are only spotting and not bleeding heavily, it might not be a miscarriage. Some women don't feel pregnancy symptoms at all throughout their pregnancy so that might not be an indication that you miscarried.

Hang in there and wait and see. Even though I knew and my doc knew that I miscarried, she didn't want to do a D&C right away in case the baby lives but in my case it didn't but it might be different for you.

wait it out... i had a few... and the worst was the ones where i would run back and forth to the dr. just wait it out.. give it 2 weeks.. then go back for an ultrasound.. see if they hear a heartbeat... then go from there.. good luck. Each of my misses... were different... one was at 6 weeks... one 7 weeks one 9 weeks and one at 12 weeks... all were different as every pregnancy is different.. but good luck..

Years ago, I had the same symptoms and miscarried at between 9-11 weeks. No D&C - my body took care of it. It hurt - both physically and emotionally, but it was not my last pregnancy. The LAST one resulted in son #3.

Try to relax. You can't control what will happen next. And I don't think you should D&C if you'd like to be pregnant. Although it hurt to go through it naturally, I felt happier knowing FOR SURE that I miscarried that baby - that no one made a medical error.

This is a very hard spot to be in. I have had 5 Miscarriages and I have been in this very spot twice. As long as you have a heart beat just wait. You'll never know what could have been if you don't wait.

If it's any comfort I had bleeding, spotting and didn't feel pregnant one bit with my first in the beginning and also had a monster size cyst on my ovary and now I have a crazy 6 year old.

My bleeding/spotting was due to a subchorionic hemorrhage that they monitored until it resolved. There are lots of reasons for bleeding/spotting in early pregnancy. We went thru a rough patch after my 1st appointment where the doc told us not to tell anyone we were pregnant because he couldn't tell us what would happen. I know how hard it is to wait it out.

I'm sorry to say that it probably will end up that way. Your situation sounds exactly like how mine was. When they finally decided that the pregnancy had ended at 11.5w, they told me that the low hb from the week before was probably my hb. The radiologist was going to send me home, everything's ok. I asked to talk to him and asked him point blank and he told me that yes the pregnancy was ended I should see me ob. What? You just said I could go home that everything was fine! Turns out he didn't want to be the one to tell me.

I went to OB. They gave me a D&C that night. I cried for months. I ended up pregnant, naturally, 4m later and was able to carry to term. My daughter is now 4y.

I hope they are wrong. If this is a miscarriage please know that you didn't do anything to cause it and you are not alone.

Hugs.
M.

I understand what you're going through right now...but please keep in mind that there is STILL a hb. Please don't allow them to do anything until there is NONE. By that point in time, your body should take care of it on its own. I will be praying for you!
