I had the Mirena IUD inserted when I was 19 at planned parenthood because after i turned 20 I would not be able to recieve free birth control and I do not have health insurance. I am 21 now and got it removed in September because I want to have a baby. That same month my period returned after having no periods the entire time I had the IUD. It is now November and I have not gotten a period since September. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests and all have came back negative. Before the Mirena I had regular periods. I am wondering if I am missing my period because of side effects after Mirena removal? Has anyone else not gotten their periods after removal? I heard a commercial about the possible side effects of Mirena that include not being able to have a baby and that frightened me. Please any help is appreciated

What can I do next?

2 months isnt enough time to give your body to readjust. things will probably be quirky for a while. You didnt have a period for 2 years, had a device inside you for 2 years and expect to take it out and everything to be like oh im normal again. I think the side affect of not being able to have a baby is that the chances of tubal pregnancies go up with iud's and such and if that happens then scar tissue can develop and that can lead to not being able to conceive. Dont freak out yet. It didn't say you will not be able to get pregnant and ever have a period again.

I had my mirena removed in July this year and had semi normal periods after. I am now about 6 weeks pregnant. Good Luck!

Your body needs time to get back to normal. I would say several months if you want that long without having a period.

Had the Mirena for almost 2 years never had my period while having the iud in. Took it out in Feb wanted to get pregnant by Aug. I got pregnant in Sept. I'm 2months & 1 week.
I think your body need to get back in groove- it's had a vacation. A lot of my friends who took out their IUD got pregnant 1-2 months after the removal. It took me 7 months to get pregnant every month when I got my period I was a little sad but knew it would happen down the line.

Good luck & relax
