Okay so here is a question. What does someone do when they stay at home with toddlers all day long and their mind is turning to jello from the lack of significant use. I don't have a lot of extra money so my options are limited. sugestions? One of the toddlers I watch is a daycare child, oh and i'm 23 weeks pregnant.

What can I do next?

I do hand crafts. If you dont know how to do any some stores offer classes (for a price). Maybe a friend can teach you if they also do crafts. Have you got the baby books up to date? Do you have the photos labeled and in the albums? Find and build a family tree. Start you little one with the sharing aspects and have on a calendar with his name on it so he knows that as a big brother he is very important.

Sounds like you and the toddler need some Outing time! Are there any others moms you can connect with to develop some play dates--like through a church or in your neighborhood? How about a reading/story time at the library? Or maybe a trip to a park once a day?

I know how hard it is to live in toddler world--try to find some new activities and connect with other moms just like you. Maybe now that the weather is getting nicer it will be easier too! Good luck!

Check out your school districts Community Ed Program. Many of those classes are very reasonable. There is usually plenty of topics to choose from. Some are academic some are more about learning hobbies.

Plan at least one evening a week for a walk with a friend. My DH and I support each other in our outside activities. I also do logic puzzles and word games before I go to bed at night.

I have a few suggestions. Do you keep a journal at all? Writing stuff down usually keeps me sane and at the same time stimulates my brain. I don't know if you like to write, but maybe you could even write and illustrate short stories to read to the children.
Other suggestions that I have heard that keep your mind going are things like puzzle books and crosswords, if you have the time to do them.

Join a book club. I see you are in St. Paul. Most of the St. Paul public libraries have at least one book club. Bookstores often have book clubs, too. The Barnes & Noble off of Ford Parkway has a couple. There are even "virtual bookclubs" where people chat online.

BBC and NPR are great to listen to. It reminds me that there is life outside of toddlerdom. ;-) You can stream many stations through your computer. Also, BBC and NPR have a nice collection of podcasts you can listen to anytime--some of them are quite interesting.

The Teaching Company's and Professor in a Box series both have some great products. Basically, it's a college-level course on DVD and/or CD. The library has some good titles.

We are lucky here in the Twin Cities. There are LOTS of free and low-cost groups that meet, for everything imaginable: hiking, knitting, breadbaking, sports, foreign languages. Just do a google search and so much will come up. Let me know if you need any URLs or more info.
