It could be wheat gluten, it could be milk, it could be any number of things. I agree with the previous posts, you must see an allergist!
I'm really hoping to get some good responses because I am concerned about the problems my son is having. Kinda long-sorry-) When my son eats he coughs until he throws up. I know it is not the flu or anything because it has been ongoing for a while now. He mainly throws up during or after a meal but its seems that he has something stuck in his throat & coughs for a while but nothing comes up. I thought he was allergic to milk so I cut that out for the most part. He started to eat a pot pie today & he threw it up about 1 minute into eating. So with reflux shouldn't it take a little while to get in his system? I then realized that it has milk in it so I took it away so can that be an instant allergy? Dr. thought it sounded like reflux & gave him meds & it seemed to help a but but I also cut out the milk at the same time. Any moms have a similar problem? He is 1 & its been on & off for 3-4 months. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi P.,
Just wanted to let you know my experience with our son. He has never been a very good eater once we started on table food at 12 months. He is now 23 months. Everyone kept telling my husband and I he'll get better with eating it's just going to take some time. I listened cause first time mom I thought I was over reacting. We'll at 21 months he started vomiting more and gaging (spelling? sorry)more. Took him in to pediatrician and said I want a swallow study done and upper GI. Come to find out he had acid reflux not sure how long he has had it, but I feel so bad for not going with my gut early on. Everyone learns from experience. So now I'm watching my 4 week old daughter like a hawk. We thought she might have MSPI (milk soy protein intolerant) So I started cutting out dairy, wheat, soy and PB from my diet.(breastfeeding) Which sucked!. Things got better, but I was still eating food that had wheat and soy in them (not knowing) and our daughter wasn't getting sick anymore. I do believe she has acid reflux but when she had her swallow study and upper GI done it showed nothing. Sorry for a long story. I recommend you have swallow study and upper GI to rule out acid reflux.
Hi P.,
My oldest child was so allergic to milk that she would throw it up as soon as she swallowed it. My youngest child had the same reaction to wheat.
My husband can diagnose food allergies through kinesology. (He's a chiropractor/naturopath). His website is www.drelijah.com

My step-dad had this problem, and it was reflux. Your son may have it too where his throat gets swollen and he can't swallow. I'd have his doctor check him out.
I've had a simular problem. I too cut out the milk. But I decided to try giving him a diff. milk. Because he missed the milk. What I would try is organic milk. I know it's expensive. BUT it's well worth the $$.
My pediatrician told us to rub whole milk on my daughter's inner forearm and let it sit for 20min. If a rash occurs then there is a milk allergy. Maybe you should try this. Hope this helps!
Hi my daughter is allergic to alot of foods. Casien is one of them..(a milk deriv.) You are a good mom for catching this.. TRUST YOUR GUT...alot a medicines have casien in them...so becareful. I can talk more with you one on one..but my daughter use to get so sick we had her in and out of the hosp. and once we got rid of alot of things she is doing better. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hi P.
if you suspect a allergy I would ask for a referral to a allergist. If you can find allergy's early it will make yours and your Sons life so much easier. If he does not have allergy's then you know it is something else and can get a good treatment for him. good Luck :) T.
I would agree with what is said below, as my 2 1/2 year old boy has allergies to milk and egg. Get him to an allergy specialist and get him tested. Go with your gut instinct on this when seeing someone, because it is so much easier for him to be diagnosed with an allergy NOW, if that is the case :)
Good luck!
