My daughter is about to be one yrs old. I am swiching her from formula to cow's milk. How much should she be drinking each day. She is eating 3 meals a day now and snacks. I just don't know how much milk and juice she should have a day. I give her a juice bottle that is half water once a day.

What can I do next?

hey i have a 3 yr old and a 10 1/2 month old(both boys). my doctors have told me to mix the formula and cows milk together and slowly increase the cows milk. at this age babies ar suppose to be getting like 32 oz. of milk...somewhere around there. i know deffinately no more that 36oz. and with the juice they're only suppose to get 6oz.of juice a day andd to water it down so it'll last through ou the day and they should NOT be getting juice in a bottle only in sippy cups. that's what doctors and nutritionists have told me. hope this helps

I just switched my daughter to cow's milk and her nutritionist told me that she should be drinking at least two cups of milk a day. She actually drinks three but a little more won't hurt:)

I have five children, from 11 to almost 2. I give them milk at every meal and juice/water (1/2 & 1/2) at snack time. My two oldest usually opt to skip juice when they have snack and take a bottled water. They have been very healthy so far with this portion of milk and juice. I do add extra throughout the day of dairy in different ways, ie yogurt & cheese! Good Luck!

When I switched my son to cow's milk, I was actually still breastfeeding, but I switched him over by pumping and mixing it with milk. At first I started with very little, and I gradually increased it until he was drinking only cow's milk (but I was still breastfeeding also for a few months). At his one year check-up, the doctor said he should be drinking 20 oz. per day of whole milk.

Have you asked her pediatrician?

My daughter's pediatrician recommended that I go slowly from formula to milk. Like for one week, 1/4 milk mixed with 3/4 formula. Next week, 1/2 & 1/2. And so on. At one year, my daughter ended up getting sick once she got to the all milk and we tried soy but that didn't work either. She ended up being about 18 months when she finally was able to handle all whole milk. As for the quantity ... same as before. No changes just because it's milk instead of formula.

I give her 1/2 cup 4-5 times per day. If you go to the local WIC center you can ask for sample menu for toddlers. You'll probably see a ton of other pamphlets their that are good for the grabbin' too. Also try these site: www.eatsmart.org www.childprofile.org

Hey

My son will be 1 on 2/07 and he just started milk and what I did was started with a milk and water mix and now he is on just milk. Now I let him drink as much milk as he wants, he does not like juice too much but loves water. So I made jucie water and he will drink that. He is also eating alot of toddler table food, he pretty much let me know that he was done with the whole baby food stage. You can go on a lot of different websites and they have tables for how much of each food group every age should get. Hope this helps.

My youngest daughter just turned one in December and she too is eating well. She takes two milk whole milk bottles a day and is now drinking some milk from a sippy...she would rather have juice constantly though. My pediatrician states that she will take less, as she eats more and that whole milk is needed until 2 years of age.

Hope this helps!
