I posted a question in July about ideas how to support our military. I thought it would be appropriate to re-post since Veterans Day is coming up.

Do you have a special way you support our US service men and women?

What can I do next?

We appreciate your support.

Though many people don't like to think about it, there are still thousands of Soldiers overseas. During the holidays, they usually get TONS of care packages...and that is wonderful.

I'd like to mention the Soldiers some folks don't think about...our homeless veterans. There are unfortunately thousands of homeless veterans. Many are homeless because they simply don't know how to live in this world after what they've seen and done for their country. So, this Veteran's Day, I urge you to consider finding a way to help. You can find more information on the resources the VA offers homeless vets here: http://www.va.gov/homeless/

Finally...a "Thank You" goes a long way. I'm a veteran of OEF and still thank our WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, and Desert Storm veterans whenever I meet one. We need them to know that their sacrifices have not been made in vain.

No, I don't have a special way but I have sent care packages to women and men overseas. I usually send them to the women because most people send them to men.

When my husband was active duty and on TDYs I would send several of something because whatever is sent is usually shared by all.

With women I think it is nice to remind them that they are women with some nice little personals that they may not get at the local post exchange especially if they are assigned away from the main support unit. The last time I did this I also included an artificial rose with a thank you note attached to each package sent stating my appreciation for what they were doing.

Thank you Christy P for your service.

PS There are groups on the web that you can contact. I think of Soldiers Anywhere where you can find a service member and send things to them.

If you look online, you can probably find an "Adopt-a-Soldier" site. Here's one I found. http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/

When I googled "adopt a soldier" a whole bunch of different sites came up.

I've seen people come up to my husband and thank him for his service (this usually happens when we're out for lunch and he's in uniform).
