Might Be in the Market for a New OBGYN for a VBAC Birth

I am pregnant now, about 5-7 weeks I am going for my proof of pregnancy later today... I love my OBGYN but he is part of Institute For Women's Health and I am nervous, that like the last baby (who is 3 now), he will not be available when it comes time for the birth. Granted the last one was born May 30th right before memorial day and the hospital was dead. However my other concern is that I am looking to have a healthy successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cecearean). Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I went for an interview with Lonestar OBGYN (midwives 4th floor) and I loved them! I met with Amy Bible and I just loved her. Thank you so much for the suggestions. Our new little one with be born in the same hospital as his/her older brother too! Thanks so much. I was so excited to find out it was everything my husband and I wanted!

Nicole, Call and make an appointment with the Certified Midwives at Lone Star OB/GYN. You have the best chance of having a successful VBAC with them. You can find out more about them by visiting their website at www.lonestarmidwives.com Please don't think that by using a Certified Nurse Midwives that you are getting sub standard care because the truth of the matter that the opposite is true. The midwives will give you better care than most doctors. I have been teaching childbirth classes for 17 years and I recommend everyone to this group. Also, Dr. Van Wingerden with Riverwalk OBGYN group is also an excellent doc for VBAC. Her office number is ###-###-####. Good luck

Hi Nicole. I second what Julie said. I just used the midwives at Lone Star and they are amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. If you have any questions about them, let me know.
One really neat thing about them is that they will allow your older child to be involved in your appointments as much as you want them. My daughter was 2 1/2 when we got pregnant and they were so great in involving her in the whole process. Including allowing her in the delivery room. It was great.

Have you considered a delivery at University Hospital? A couple of faculty members that practice out of UHS will allow for an attempt at vbac, their office is located on Data Point in the Ashford Oaks building. The two I recommend are either Dr. Gordon or Dr. Stewart.
