I experienced something similar; my OB/GYN had put me on the pill to restart my period, too. And yes, it worked. I stayed on the pill for about 3 months; my period continued normally after I stopped taking the pill.
Hey, I had a miscarriage almost 6 weeks ago. My doctor had said I should get my period within 4-6 weeks, which I haven't gotten yet. I know I have another couple days before I hit the 6 week period but I am getting frustrated...can't get pregnant without a period!! Has anyone had a miscarriage and how long did it take for you to get your period afterwards. Thanks!
NEW UPDATE: I got my period yesterday...a couple days shy of 7 weeks and I didn't use the pill my doctor wanted me to. Hopefully now I am back on track and will be trying again!!
I neglected to let anyone know that I have been taking pregnancy tests and all have been negative. I spoke to my docs office yesterday and they want me to take a pill to start my cycle. I am a little nervous to do it since my husband and I have been trying (against dr.'s orders). From the last time we tried by doc said that I would get a positive test this weekend if I was, so I am going to take a test on Sat. morning and if still negative I guess I'll start the pill. My doc. said that I have to take this pill for 10 days and should have a period within 14 weeks...here comes the waiting game again. Some of you may have read a post I posted in August in which I skipped by cycle and than 4 weeks later got prego and than micarried, so not to sound annoyed, but I am annoyed with this waiting game :-) Thanks!!

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I know how devastating it is. I too had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I miscarried on 4/28/06 and started my first menstrual cycle on 5/28/06. I got pregnant two weeks later! My daughter was born healthy as can be on 3/9/07. I did lots of research after our loss and although it differs with everyone seems that the less amount of time you were pregnant (6-7 weeks) the sooner your body will bounce back and be able to get pregnant again. Best of luck!
well i too had a miscariage on fathers day this year. it took 8 weeks to get my period and then i got pregnant again right after, but it was an etopic pregnancy. so they removed it and having been my second etopic pregnancy i can't have any more babies. but i am blessed with 5 beautiful babies. good luck. i am sorry you had a miscariage. i know how it feels to go though that.
Hi M.,
I just wanted to write you and let you know you definately aren't alone. I too, have had to deal with a miscarriage, I lost my first baby. I honestly can't remember how long it took my cycles to get back on track. I do, however, know it took us about a year to concieve again. My husband and I started trying to concieve a few months after my miscarriage, per my doctor's orders. We had a hard time before and during my pregnancy.
Good luck and I hope knowing that you aren't alone helps.
Hi M.
With my first miscarriage I had a period within 4 weeks, however with my second miscarriage I never got a period because I got pregnant right away.
I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I have had 2 misscarriages in the past 4 years. Both times it took me about 6 weeks (if I remember right) to get my menstrual cycle. Don't worry, you'll probably get it soon.
I have had a couple miscarriages. One I had my period within 4 weeks time, the other I got pregnant before I had my period. That was a little strange according to the dr. but it happened.
Hi M., I had a miscarriage awhile back nd it did take a litle over the 6 weeks to restart my cycle. However, it all depends on when your hormone levels get back to normal. When you get pregnant your hormone level goes up really fast, but it can take up to 8-10 weeks to go back down. If you were to take an over the counter pregnancy test right now, you may still show a positive result due to your levels still being up. It's a tough position, especialy when you're trying to conceive, but hang in there! Your body is telling you it's not quite ready to make you that perfect baby, but it will be soon!
