Men's Suit and Tie Question

My husband has an interview tomorrow. He only owns one suit, dress shirt and tie. Bought three five ago for an interview. Do suits change styles that much in five years that he's going to look unprofessional? He's only wore it one other time back when he first got it and it had been hanging in the closet ever since. So when I went to get it out, it's full of dust. Should I have kept it inside the suit keeper thing? I rushed it to the cleansers but forgot to bring the tie. It's silk, should it have been drycleaned too? Can I wash and iron it?
EDIT: While he doesn't have a white collar job ie...lawyer, salesman etc, he is somewhat professional in what he does and really wants the job. He's a DBA2 and applying for an architech (sp?) position at another company. This would be a great oppurtunity for him and would give us a lot more money each year, which means we could hopefully get out of our school district, tiny home and bad neighborhood. So he wants to look his best. Hoping and praying he gets it :)
Thanks for all the answers. I won't wash or iron the tie and will try to find a place to do rush cleaning on it.

What can I do next?

DO NOT wash the silk tie in the washing machine - it will ruin it.

You should be able to fluff the tie enough to make it presentable - if not, spot clean it or rush it to the cleaners and see if they can help you in such short notice.

Suit style is not as important and what it looks like ON HIM. Once he puts it on, does he look professional? It doesn't sound like you have much option right now, so tell him he looks fabulous and let him wear that confidence to the interview!

Good luck!

If it is single breasted it wouldn't be out of style. Also I would take it to a same day cleaners.

I'm confused....if he doesn't wear a suit/tie for work, then why does he need it for the interview. I totally get the whole "look your best/professional thing", but is it really needed? If you are concerned that the suit is outdated, would a simple pair of dress pants (or just the suit pants) & a nice dress shirt suffice?

Moving on....don't wash the tie! Just iron it if it's looking rough....Good Luck to your husband!

Do not wash the tie. That would ruin it, leaving it unwearable.

The suit should be fine. Men's suit fashions don't change that much over a few years, unless it was an especially distinctive style.

Good luck on the interview!

No need to clean the silk tie. Just wipe it gently with a slightly damp washcloth. And don't worry about the suit style unless he bought something really stylish five years ago. My husband wears suits every day and has some that are ten years old and still look good (since he rotates between a bunch).

Hi Mom-

NO!!! Do not wash the tie!

I might put it in a lingerie bag...and 'fluff' in dryer on air...

IF it needs a pressing...NO STEAM or even water in the iron...could spot...and do it only with DRY iron...and a cloth between iron and tie!

Best Luck!
