Hi all. My friend is going in for a CT scan for a fracture in her foot and pelvis. They have said that she can only have this done during the 1st 10 days of her menstrual cycle. We are not very medically minded so can any of you smart mommas explain why this is?
Thanks again. :-)

So What Happened?

Aw thanks. Its sounds so obvious when someone else tells you!! :-) I have just text my friend to tell her and she is laughing as she is in so much pain with her pelvis, her and her husband have not been bedroom buddies "ahem" for a while so there is no chance she is pregnant!!. thanks again you clever girls. xx

Hi F.---My guess, and it's just a guess, is that they want to make absolutely sure that she is not pregnant. But you should really ask them to be sure. I often share things with my husband that I've learned from others and he always asks me 'why'. It's a good thing to keep in mind.

Best wishes, D.

I have had a bunch of scans. It must be to avoid doing one when pregnant.

So that she probably won't be pregnant.....(it's before one would ovulate).

My guess is the same as Diane's but I don't remember being told I could only have my ct scan done during the first 10 days but maybe that is because when my doctor ordered it it was known that I was not pregnant. I had already had a two ultrasounds and blood work done for unexplained pain so the doctor knew I was not pregnant.

They want to be very sure that she is not pregnant. In the second half, she might have just gotten pregnant. Less chance in the first 10 days following the start of her period.
