If you want you could remove the uterous but leave the ovaries. HRT is not right for everyone.

PS Estrogen induced breast cancer is no fun.
As I am approaching my late 40s, my body is starting to have some quirks. I now have a ovarian cyst and two cysts on my uterous. My dr. said they want to wait about two months and do another ultrasound while we wait also for lab results from blood work taken recently. Some of the things that came up in our discussion was having just ovaries removed because of elevated pain level in abdomin and crazy cycles I've been having this past year. Maybe also having my uterous removed and this would then be a complete hysterectomy. Followed up by hormone replacement therapy (HRT). SO .. like many of us, I went home and became Internet Dr. Mom/Wife/and of course, Woman. If you've had either of these surgeries, I hope you are well now and would like to see how yours went. I am not a procrastinator, so if needed, I'm one of those, let's get it done now folks. It doesn't look my symptoms are getting any better, actually worse and I'm just wondering what I'm going to experience during recovery and afterwards. Thanks Ladies!!

I had my complete hysterectomy, bikini line incision, done almost 10 years ago. It was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I have never, felt or looked better.
I am on the HRT patch, NO issues what so ever from day 1. Recovery has a lot to do with how you make it... I am not one to prefer to be waited on hand and foot, lol. I followed all Dr orders but I was at a track meet in 3 weeks watching my daughter.
I never had the sswelly belly, weight gain, or low sex drive. If anything the sex drive increased because of no fear of an oopsie! Since the surgery sex has been WAY better.
I loved the website www.hystersisters.com. It is very detailed, they have info on all pros, cons, HRT, etc. It was very helpful for me.
Pm me if you want.. but I am SO glad I had the surgery. The worst part was the worrying up until the day of surgery and not being able to drive for 2 weeks.
You hear a lot of negatives about HRT.. Just research which one you are put on. HRT can cause breast cancer to rise HOWEVER, My thoughts were.... Breast cancer is much more treatable and found sooner than Ovarian cancer which is pretty much a certain death sentence. You just have to do what is best for you and trust your Dr.
I refused to have one ovary removed when I was 19 years old because the doctor told me I would NEVER get pregnant if I did not have the surgury. Three months later I was pregnant delivering a full term baby after 40 weeks gestation.
The doctor who wanted my uterus as I entered menopause and the one who wanted it later on when the bleeding was very serious both got the same response. The serious bleeding when he told me to go to the hospital because my fibroid was so big and causing the trouble turned out to be my very last period. A year later the fibroid was the size of a quarter on the wall of my uterus.
I DO NOT TRUST DOCTORS. They are so fast with a knife and they make pronouncements they know nothing about just to get a Jaguar.
I went to an acupuncturist over and over again during the 5 years of menopause. He shrunk the fibroid many times. The cysts no trouble for the acupuncturist to dissolve.
Pay out of pocket and keep your body intact.
I found a very great homeopath after a long search who has cured of of asthma. Nothing for 5 years now.
Do I want to take a doctors recommendation. Yes, but not seriously. I just listen and do as I please.
HRT ....so you are looking forward to breast cancer. For that is what happens with HRT.
Avoid HRT at all costs if you can. It is sooooo unhealthy and causes so many other problems...and do you have any idea where they get the hormones from...? EW!
At 38 I also had cysts on both my ovaries and a fibroid tumor in my uterus, which caused extreme bleeding for a period of 2 months. When I went to the ER hemorrhaging it was determined i required an emergency hysterectomy, both ovaries and my uterus were removed. I went into immediate menopause and was placed on HRT, which did absolutely nothing for me (as far as relieving hot flashes, etc.) so I stopped it about a year or so after my surgery.
The only real benefit to HRT, or so I've heard, which may outweigh the dangers of it, may be for some women who may experience loss of bone mass and density, discuss that with your doctor.
God bless!
hi S., i dont know if this applies, but just wanted to weigh in..... 3 mos ago i went to my gyn because my periods had been getting worse and worse over 6 mos or so. they did an internal sono and saw that i had a thickened uterine lining and a cyst on one ovary, about 3 cm across. my doc said i would probably need a d&c, but wanted to put me on a hormone for 3 mos first and see if that helped. so he put me on prometrium (?) for the 1st 10 days of each calendar month for 3 mos. i just went back this week for follow up sono. my cyst was less than half the original size and the lining was back to normal. they explained to me that sometimes when your hormones get out of whack, the follicles on your ovaries swell up, which is what happened to me. i still have some swollen follicles on both ovaries, but they are all small and arent considered cysts at this size. they will keep an eye on them. i wanted to mention this to you, i dont know if your cysts are like mine, of course, especially given that you have 2 on your uterus as well, just something to possibly ask about with your doc or at a second opinion. best of luck to you.
I had partial hysterectomy where they removed my uterus but I still have my falopian (SP?) tubes so I still ovulate. They did my surgery vaginally so I have no scar. The recovery was no problem. Within a couple of weeks I was swimming and walking around like nothing happened. I never could figure out why the doc kept me out of work for six week, when I was recovered (as far as I'm concerned) within about two weeks.
There was pain when I first woke up,. of course, but that went away very quickly and after that, no problems whatsoever.
I went through menopause in my mid 40's without any medical intervention so I am totally unaware of the issues they can cause. I would say if the surgery is medically needed that your body will adjust with or without medications.
Good luck getting the right information and that the avenue that you choose is an easy journey for you.
